Today I ran my 1/8th scale buggy and the air filter came off without me knowing.I pulled it down - the was sand in the carb , also in the intake through the crank. Now the crank has a nice score around it ( where the carb meets it).Looks like I hit it with a piece of sand paper.... Is the crank stuffed? The only reason I found out about this is due to the engine cutting out..

you could try to polish it a little to get scuffs out, the thing you need to worry about is the sleeve, if there are scratches in the sleeve, youll lose compression and the engine will run like crap, if at all.

If you have sand in your carb and crank, it is almost certian you have it in the piston and sleeve area also. I'm no expert (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I think the engine is toast.:sorry:

It depends on how bad the scratches are if u can't polish it out....i would say its toast. Unless u wont to buy a new crank piston and sleeve not to mention your bearing are probally toast now.

thats how i killed my first engine in my sandmaster.
you can only give it a try my guess is it's shagged tho dude.

goodluck
