running at about 235 245 f. engine cutts off after a wot passes. whats wrong?

Hummm... IMO it is running a little rich at those temps. Traxxas mills usually like it a little closer to 275-280. When you come to a stop does it sputter and die or rev up and die?

i had the same problem for a while with my 5.9 after wot it would just fall flat on its face and die without warning, my engine was still in its break in period! then it just stopped doing that and ran perfeclty fine!

Hummm... How old (new) is the glow plug? If it is just quitting I would say it is the glow plug going bad.

All information is pure speculation and could be wrong...

now if i am remembering correctly i did change my glow plug and then the engine shut off problem stopped, i would go with rcaddict on this one. just because the engine starts and runs does not necessarily mean that the glow plug is 100 percent operational. Sometimes a glow plug will run for a while and then fail once your engine has been running for a while. sometimes just testing the glow plug with an igniter and seeing it glow red does not tell you everything about what the glow plug is doing throughout runtime.

sort of an intermentent affect i imagine
??? glows for a while then stops??

wonder why after WOT though?

How new is the mill?
I have had that happen to me two times now. Now mind you every situation can be different.
My revo did this to me last week and my wifes TMAXX did the same thing. My Revo had an airleak. My wifes rigg needed a new glow plug. IMO. If you changed the glow plug a couple of times and it didn't change anything.Try Taking it back to factory settings and retune. If it still does it, Check to see if your idle is set right. Try to bring up the idle and see if it does the same thing. Next if that didn't work check for an air leak.
This is MO. I hope it helps.

jnjritz: Dangerous minds think alike! That is where I was going with my advice! It is most likely either the GP or an air leak. But you would think with an air leak it would cut out at WOT...

I figured why not ask about the plug first and eliminate it if it isn't the problem.

ok guys put new gp in still same results. called traxxas support they said lean the the lsn what do you guys think? started raining so i had to pack up help please the weekends coming!!!!!

rabbitmadden: One other thing to check after the GP but before the air leaks--pull the air cleaner off. Note that the gap in the carb opening should be about 1mm. Now turn on the RX and TX and hit full brake. If the opening closes then the idle screw and/or the linkage need to be adjusted so that the carb does not close completely off.

Sorry I am just now adding this, but I never thought to ask if your rig died while you were coasting back from WOT or if you were hitting the brakes.

*EDIT to add info after your post*

Lean the LSN??? That would make it worse IMO. If anything it is leaning out because of an air leak. Check the carb inlet position first as described above. That you can do inside out of the rain!

I'm going to say try your idle first. Because Traxxas DOES NOT want you to touch the idle screw! So they are going to tell you to lean it out. Try it like RC ADDICT said to do it. 1 mm Gap.
