I have seen alot of posts on proper break in and they all measure the break in time by number of tanks. for example, run first tank at idele second tank nowore than 1/4 throttle etc. all the way up to 9 or 10 tanks I have seen. Well the question is my savage has a 160cc tank, my friend has a t-maxx with 125cc tank. difference of 35cc so I run 10 tanks thats 1600cc's he runs 10 tanks thats 1250cc's. bigg difference if you ask me. and it has nothing to do with engine size imo because I have the picco .26 he has the xtm 24.7 so engine size is close. did I waist 350cc's or is his engine not broke in enough?

Tanks are just fore reference. Some engines take a longer time to brake in than others. If you have never run a nitro before its s good guideline to follow.

Once you have broken several engines in, you will know buy the sound, smell, sight, and response of your RC when its fully broken in. As the engine brakes in it will respond better and the HP and torque will increase.

Its always best to follow the instructions that came with your mill.
I always add an additional 3-4 tanks before tuning for power. Its better to be safe than sorry.

:stupid: Well said. Dont use the tanks for refrence. Just keep running tanks in low i repeat, LOW rpm's no half throttles till you get to atleast the 4,5,6th tank. Then start driving moderate speeds till you can tell the engine is loosened up and ready for action. When you think its ready...run a half a tank then use the other half to start tuning.
