on the bearing thats at the front of the motor closest to the threaded part of the crank. if the rubber seal is gone off of it will the motor still run??

well so u can see the bearings in the ball bearing? thats not good. u get dirt in there, and the bearing will lock up and thats the end of that engine. just get some new ones. take the whole engine apart so its just the case w/bearings then bake it in the oven at 350 for 10 min and the bearings should pop out. what i do is put the case in a clamp and take a propane tourch to the case where the bearings are and they pop right out. WATCH OUT HOT!

You will have a air leak if the front bearing rumble seal is not in place.. I second the option to get a replacement.
The Bearing size is 7x17x5mm..The Part# 5223
