A while back I bought the entire electrical setup from a new E-Savage to use in a boat.
Well, second thoughts, and I'd like to make the new roller an E.
Anyone have a link to the motor mounts, and do I need a special transmission?
 
I know you don't need all the parts that this conversion has, but I think it will help you get an idea of what you will need.

I think to start you will need the battery boxes, motor plate and motor mounts. I also suggest you go to over to the HPI site and download the Savage Flux manual and exploded views for part numbers.

Good info. I've ordered the dual motor mount plate and gear cover, and oddly it doesn't show in the conversion kit.
I found a pair of battery holders for $14 on the bay.
I still don't have any trans info.
 
Thinking about doing this to my Savage XL if I can't sell it. Would the same kit work?
 
I stripped out a boat to do the install, and everything ended up on hold. Now that I have the new Savage without an engine, it dawned on me that I have the electrical system for it.
I just ordered battery boxes.
 
He also realized that it would be nice to have an electric truck that needs no batteries to match his nitro truck that needs no fuel.

What dual motor mount plate and gear cover?

The Flux uses a single motor.

You will be good on the tranny.
 
the stock nitro tranny is fine. i'm redoing my savage using the TCS conversion kit. the only thing i've found with the stock nitro tranny is you'll need to remove the brake cam. i didnt have the clearance for the motor with it in.

aside from the battery boxes, you'll need the motor mount and the plate. after that you should be good.
 
Problem with the stock transmission is the OWB the would allow the tranny to coast rather than have brakes though the transmission. My Flux is just about too much power. I thought I would never say that but it is like a Jato even on 4s. I have not ran 6s yet but I know it will be pure ridiculousness. With the brushed setup you might even be able to run a three speed I would think with out shelling it out.
 
I looked at the Flux, and it's not what I'm working with. The E-Savvy setup I bought from flm is the dual brushed motor system.
I was looking everything over, and with the stock nitro trans in it there won't be any reverse unless I add the reverse module.

Rolex, got a link for the dual brushed system? I have a roller that I wanted to convert for my wife.

The more i read this post the more I want to do this to my savage XL. What would i need differently because it is a XL?
 
Right now I have no idea what I'll be running into. It's also got the extended TVPs and no belly plate, so I'll have to add things as I go.
When the motor mount arrives, I'll know what I'll need next.
I'm about to go looking for the exploded view. Anyone have a link on it?
 
Well, if I could fabricate a nitro Revo to fit in my giant Humm-Vee with brushless power, I'll have this one to look forward to. :)
