E Maxx diff slides side to side

I recently installed a Rc Boyz rear bulk head on my Original E Maxx. The diff slides side to side a lot. About 1/2 an inch. Is this due to it being the old style diff? Did I burn myself on the bulkhead? Just wondering if anybody has had this problem. Thanks as always.

Nobody's seen this? Hmm. When I tear into it, I'll post my results and fix.

1/2" is A LOT. I'm not familiar with the differences between the old diffs and new but that's a whole heck of a lot of movement.

I didn't notice it when I put it together. Cased a jump yesterday and broke a driveshaft. Swapped the front to the back and that's when I noticed. There's no up and down movement, just side to side. I think the old diff cases are the same size as the newer ones. It's so damn much slop that grinding down the brace wouldn't help. It's a shame because it's a nice, cnc'd bulkhead. Fit and finish was perfect until I noticed the diff slop.

So just to clarify - it's the diff case that's moving, not just the diff itself?

You got it, Lesson. The whole diff case is sliding back and forth. Just like it's the wrong size. The reason I'm thinking the old and new cases are the same size is that when I was scoopin' out bulkheads, they were all listed as fitting the pro .15, 2.5 and 3.3. I didn't look at a whole bunch. The Rc Boyz was in my price range and I just read somewhere about them being of good quality. All the 4908 driveline parts bolted right up to the old E Maxx, so I figured all the diffs had the same dimensions. It's pretty weird that it's this far off.

I would contact the MFR. That sounds like a defect.

Thanks Lesson. I'll get a hold of them tonight and post the results. If their customer service isn't up to par, I'll be sure and spread the word. The $25 that this bulk cost would have bought 4 stockers.

hey i think if just the case is moving then from the jump you might have broke the outside casing or the bearing my old tmaxx one had the same problem and then i replaced the case (it was cracked) and when i got into it i noticed the bearing WAS BROKE there was NO BALLS LEFT it became depressed and then the bearing balls started to fall out i belive get some new sealed teflon bearings and you shout be good I'd get a new diff housing to just for saftey.
