Yup, but nowhere near as bad as Smartech. It's just overall plastic quality and bearing tolerances with duratrax's. Otherwise, they're okay if maintained religiously.

thats what i thought. he's gone through 2 clutch bells, 2 spur gears(1 plastic and 1 steel, 2 rear body posts, 1 shock tower, a servo, one way bearing, and the cb bearings

Sooner or later, the engine will pop on it. A buddy of mine locally has a Duratrax Axis. His is a good lil' buggy, but the motor popped way before its' time. The inner bearing actually fell apart, with a ball sitting on top of the piston.

I've also seen more than a few Duratrax engines with bad front bearings, leaking like a siv.

I was always curious how the Warhead was. I thought the suspension looked pretty sick on them. I have a electric buggy (Actually my nephews) and I'm actually really impressed by how tough it has been for him. He's 9 years old and never drove a rc before, so its bounced off trees, car tires, people.. And hasnt broke anything yet. Its been a great buggy. But again its electric, so there isnt the engine to have to worry about and is less to go wrong.

I have a duratrax raze, and the only things I've broken are a steering servo (because it had nylon gears), a servo horn (because my new servo had to much torque), and the pullstart coil.I really bash with it to. I take it off the biggest jumps i can and it hasn't hurt it yet. Thats just my 2 cents.

I Would Not Recommend Duratrax, But That Just My Opinion

I wouldnt spend big money on one, but good beginner rigs. (electrics anyway)

From what I have seen and heard the Warhead is a pos, it likes to eat gears and isnt really refined. the Raze is a pretty neat buggy, it is preatty durable and handles nicley. and the 1/5 scale Firehammer is totaly worthless, a lot of plastic and a really bad components.

Those are the 3 Duratrax rcs i have worked on and with. :2cents:

yeah my buddies warhead evo is pretty crappy. I'm tryin to convince him to sell it and get a savage

I know this post is a little old. I have always been into RC cars for as long as I can remember. Always had losi and associated. About 5 years ago I was run over by a truck and was in a wheel chair for about a year. I purchased the duratrax overdrive St because it had reverse and was rtr. It was my first and only duratrax but I beat the living crap out of this thing and have never had any major issues. The only thing that ever broke was the diff's but replaced them with the harden steel diff's haven't striped the gears since. I still run it just about every weekend with my 7 year old nephew who by the way doesn't know the meaning of brake or turn and runs the thing at full speed into something at least once every weekend. With an O. S. .18 in the thing full speed is pretty fast. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think duratrax is a durable car and I would consider buying another duratrax if and when I'm ready to buy another RC car

Thank you!, i have a duratrax raze and people critisize just because they don't like the companys other vehicals. I don't care if you critisize just make sure you have the grounds to do it.

my 2 cents
