i have 2 duratrax cars and they have been giving me trouble and i would like
some advice on them.

i have blown 2pistons so far because of my bad air filter can you tell me a good type of air filter to buy. when i took apart my piston i saw a lot of dirt inside the air filter and inside the carborator and if you get one spec of dirt inside the piston is gone. also my air filter is small and it collects dirt on the element really fast if i am racing because the track i go to is a mixture of sand and dirt that is very loose.

You lost a mill because a bad air filter?

can I ask how you come to that particular conclusion? There are many, many things that can go wrong with any mill, and even more that can go wrong with a Duratrax mill.
 
Wow...in that case it is bound to be a very bad unit. contact Duratrax (or whoever made the filter) and let them know the problem. Other than that, just about any air filter should do. Get a rubber or plastic sleeve and Zip-tie it to your carb, then replace the air filter with any other one and zip tie it to the sleve.

well i have 2 zip ties on my carb and filter and i will get a better filter:bowned:
and are starter boxes worth it i will add you
 
The starter box is all in a matter of opinion. They are bulky, require a stand alone power source, but are surer fire.

There may be other means of starting your rig, but I don't know exactly which ones are out there. Look into a tiger Drive perhaps. they are light and good for racers who need quick starts without all the weight on the truck.
 
I have a buddy that had his duratrax axis' stock engine blow up. The inner bearing self-destructed. When he tore it down post-mortem, there was one bearing ball sitting right on top of the piston.

I've also seen more than a handful of duratrax engines leaking from the front bearing.

and i blew 2 cylinders and i only have a
one cylender car and i broke 2 different cylenders or like you like to call it a mill

This is the second post you have dedicated to the same problem mate, next time try updating the first thread with new info- that will probably get you more hits.

As with the first post we could use a little more information to give a good series of possibilities.
 
You need to make sure the base of the air tube are zip tied onto the carb and the other end to the filter holder......if you can't pick your rig up by teh filter ONLY then it's not on secure and dirt can (and will) work it's way into your carb.....also make sure you are changing (or cleaning it REALLY WELL) them every 1/4 gal or less of fuel......

I have one of these trucks and they are quite fun, bought it off someone here on RCNT a few years back, can't remember who though.....




Forgive me for being dumb here but what do you mean by "cylinder? Not trying to be smart, I'm just lost on that one....
 
I am kinda lost on that one as well...

Do you mean you split one cylinder in two or broke the piston?
