hey, i am about to invest in a charger, and i wanted to make sure i get the best bang for the buck.
the duratrax i.c.e charger seems to be, just what I'm looking for, just want some more advice, before i fork out the cash. these are my needs
#1 ease of operation
#2 the ability to charge NICD,NIMH, and we are getting a couple of losi desert 1/18 for xmas, with lipo packs, so it will also have to have the abilty to charge those as well.if you know of a charger in the $120-$140 price range that you have personlly used and you think its a better charger, please clue me in.
no second hand info please, just not a big fan of , he said/or friend of mine.
thanks in advance.....geronimo:D

I use the ice. I charce nicd, nimh, and lipo's with it, and love it. Charger, and discharger all in one. Just make sure you get the right amperage powersupply to push it. I will have to double check, but i believe it can hold up to 9 different battery profiles at once.

I use the ICE too, and it's a nice charger. Like Alpine said though you will need a 20 amp power supply for it. Personally I use a Pyramid 30 amp supply and the set up has worked great for me.

for those of you runing the Duratrax ICE Charger, which AC to DC power supply are you using? Please post links if available.

I want the Ice so badly. I had the money for it, but then I realized you needed a power supply to use it on an AC outlet.

well after a lot of research, i decided on the hobbico accu, has all the features i want comes with the ac/dc power supply, and it was backed by some soild referals, after i cashed in my tower rebates and free shipping ,i got it for less than $100. i did do alot of research on the duratrax i.c.e and it seems a lot of people are sending them in for repairs. i know this will tick a few people off, but its in black and white. peace

I don't know a single person that uses an ICE that has had to send it in for repairs. I know things happen and stuff breaks, but is "a lot" of people are having problems, I would think I would have heard about at least one.

I use 2 Checkpoint chargers which is basically the same as the ICE and I have never had any problems with them either.

This is the one I have been using with my Ice, and it works great.

Mine is a 10 amp 12volt unit that I have had for like 10 - 15 years or so and it runs my Ice charger just fine. Can't remember what brand it is but at the time it was around $100, but I have never had any problems with it...

ok i'm busted,i have looked at a lot of chargers the last few days, got my wires crossed, i could not get a lot of info for the power supply for the ice, damn near bought the mcr sb 989,did research on it and alot of folks are having issues with lipo charging, anyway, i stand corrected.:(:(:(:(

I was thinking of something along this line, any comments would be great thanks.

ok, its killing me .will somebody plz call me a dumass, so at least i'll feel better. theres nothing worse than bad info.

You can't go wrong with an ICE charger.

The power supply that NCNitro linked is a good choice at a good price.

You can also check out the Hyperion line of chargers that Maxamps.com sells. They are also quality chargers and some of them are AC/DC.

I have one Hyperion and have never had any problems with it. Simple to use as well.
