I've toyed with getting one of these off and on for a little while. I've not heard good things about it's predecessor, the MT (1).

Does anyone have experience or observations about this truck? Is it as tough as an RC10GT? What about a Rustler?

Thanks,
South

Both the Nitro Rustler and the RC10GT are tough trucks. I have not personally driven the MT2 or MT1 so i cannot compare them. All i can say is out of the three trucks, there is no wrong choice. All three have good hop up capability and reliability. It all depends on what you want to do with them.

i have had the mt2. its durable but i have broken little things. nothing big yet. i would have to say its durable and a great begginer truck. easy to tune.

The HPI MT2 18SS will be a very durable truck. The entire drivetrain has been beefed up drastically all the way down to the diff gears. With the .18 it should haul ass with 4WD to get all the power down.

I think this will be a awesome truck and I want to get one soon. If I hadn't already got a new Savage SS 4.6 I would have got one.

The one thing I would be worried about would be the front suspension arms. My friend has a MT 1 and that is the one main part that he breaks. Just have a few of those on hand just in case. I don't know how the MT 2 is for this probablem but thats my experience with the MT 1.

I have the MT2 and have upgraded many things on the truck so far. Not because I broke things either. I have yet to break anything (but I've yet to jump the truck really either)

I have cartwheeled the truck a lot, fliped it, and drove into curbs and walls a few times. nothing broken yet *knocks on wood*

The stock MT2 with the T-15 is slow compared the the RC10GT (my brother in law has one). He would kick my ass in the straights before I put the 18SS/pipe/clutch in. Now I can go just as fast as he can (keeping the truck straight is a challenge for him)

I have found that with the new power, I have trouble getting to top speed before the truck starts to track left and right. That is the reason I have bought the new shocks, shock towers and turnbuckles. I'm hoping they will make for better driving. I havent had a chance to see yet due to the weather we've been having. I should be able to post pics in a few days of everything if you'd like to see close-ups on anything.

By the way - I love my MT2 :)

the MT-1 was ok with durability. the chassis was pretty strong but the drivetrain was weak. i was constantly stripping spru gears. and everthing was a very weak plastic.

Cheers.

Had a HPI MT. only problem i had was turnbuckles poping off the ball ends or breaking off the ball ends.

Small stuff really.
That truck is 90% aluminum now and has a .15 os mill in it now. screams.

I'm thinking of getting the mt2 also. I just have to get it passed the wife

So far i've ran it into a tree, telephone pole, parked car, friends leg, rolled it over a few time... nothing broke.. just a few scratches.

Like other said, the MT SS beefed up the drivetrain, so unless you are out to try to break something, it will be pretty hard to mess it up. :)
