Just spent 12 hours in a hunters safety class so I could get my license and am going out in the morning!!

so did they teach you to only shoot at Ducks?

We live in an historic time. It's been over 100 years since a vice president shot someone while in office.
But hey, give the man some credit. If you're going to shoot someone in the face, do it to a lawyer.:celebrate:

have fun hunting/ i hope you had fun hunting.

i also had to endure a hunter saftey course. we had this really strict teacher dude. he would wistle really loud when you didn't expect it and yell "SIT DOWN"

I'm jealous, i used to duck hunt alot back in arkansas (rice and duck capitol!) its just not cold enough here though.. i can't sweat and hunt.. just can't do it..

blast a few for me man!

I have never duck hunted in cali, to frigin expensive. But I know the pain of the hunter safy course, I fell asleep a number of time when watching the vid's. Then when the guy went to corect my test he put the scantron on the correcting sheet back words so it looked like I got like 3 right. I instantly felt like poop. Bastard lol. Hunting is one of the greatest joys I feel. Enjoy bro!

I myself miss the thrill of hunting with a 120mm smooth-bore cannon, something that shoots back. (I used to be a tank crewman in the army.)

I think you might have been hunting something other then ducks though lol. Unless ducks are starting to fight back.

Yeah well the land we were on gets over hunted and it was a sunny clear day and we saw maybe 50 ducks all morning and shot 2. And no they I never saw a Cheney video but we watched several outdated films from the 70s. And the guy sitting next to me was wasted. He laughed at every stupid joke told by the leaders and he reeked.

You just don't want to go hunting with a drunk with a shotgun. I'm surprised that they let him finish the class or get a license.

Yeah well they did. And its guys like him that go and hurt someone and give hunters a bad rep.

What strategy do you use?

Personally, I use the "creeper/jumper" three guys hide behind a stock tank bank while another flanks it. When he jumps out all the birds fly right over head.

Dunno if it's illegal- but it sure is a hell of a lot more fun than sitting in a boat trying to avoid dropping your beer in the water.

Edit, reading over some of the recent posts I wanted to clarify- We don't drink while hunting, just use dirty tricks on birds who are not quite as bright as we are.

well I hunted a small pond in the middle of a farm so we sat on the edge of a corn field just inside the first row of corn thats about 20ft from the bank of the pond and popped out when we called some in. Its a perfect spot it just gets overhunted.

Went out this morning and saw a couple hundred ducks throughout the day. Took ZERO shots! They all had no interest in stopping in for a visit.:surrender
