I want to know what people think about the Duratrax Evader EXT DTXD29A1.
I was looking at getting my son one of these but I don't know anything about Duratrax. Thanks

what do you want to know? they come with bushings not bearings. and the reciever/transmitter isn't that great
but for the price and rtr, there decent.
i have a ext but it has a st body, shocks off a nitro maximum mt pro. and full ball bearings, transmission and wheels etc.. plus i have brushless on it.

if u want my honest opinion they are decent trucks, but i would get the st and also. duratrax puts a 1 year stress tech parts guarentee if any parts break in the first year u own it they will replace it. but to me it's not worth the wait, most of the parts are cheap, besides shocks i think the st comes with aluminum shocks

Thats the kind of stuff I want to know. If I have to upgrade it to ball bearings and things like that then I might as well get a better one anyway. I use to have a rc with plastic bushings and it would wear them out in no time. Thanks

the ext has ball bearings, and for the diffrence the st is worth it, the st comes with aluminum shocks and ball bearings ready to run for like 169.99

the ext is about 120.. you can find good deals sometimes, i bought my evader bx/ with the bearings rtr and aluminum shocks from a lhs "new" for 100 plus tax

The one I found online comes with just the truck and radio. I would still need to buy batteries and a charger and that brings the total to $200. I am going to have to start looking around at hobby shops and see what they offer or try ebay. Thanks

How about a traxxas rustler?

What does anyone think about the traxxas rustler electric rtr? Still looking for an electric for my son.

How old is your son? If you're looking at the $200 range you may just want to go with a Slash. Fairly bulletproof, simple to work on, and waterproof. Just hose it down after playing.

*edit: Plus if he wanted to he could start racing in the Slash spec class which is loads of fun.

He's 15. I want to let him drive my nitros but his driving skills are pretty bad so I figured an electric would be best for him.

I've got a 16yr old stepson. Gave him a nitro rs4 onroad for Xmas when he was visiting. Let's just say you going with off-road & electric is a good idea. More playing time, less parts & fixing "tuning" mess ups :) I've got a 4yr old that I let take out the Slash all the time and never worry about it.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend the Slash (or another CORR RTR like the Associated SC10). He can do off-road with it as well as on-road so places to run it are easy to find. Parts are cheap and everywhere. Invest in 2-3 3600+ battery packs and a good charger and he could play non-stop all day cycling batteries. If there's a track in your area it's almost a given that there's a Slash class and lots of people in his age range (or driving ability range) that race Slashes, as well as the more seasoned drivers.

One thing I love about off-road RC racing is the people by and large are great folks. The competitive factor is there but nowhere near as intense as on-road where tenths of a second matter and because things are so close it just doesn't seem as open or friendly. You bump someone in onroad and things can get ugly. Slash? Hell, if you haven't bumped someone you're not trying hard enough :)
