Me again ! just like to know wich kind is better(of the 2 disk brake set out there) ,does it really make a difference to have those 2 disk thingy on the truck ? and is it hard to put on ? Thank You !!!

It makes a huge difference in the stopping power. When I installed mine, I found the easiest way to do the install was to remove the rear end and the engine plate.

To do this, remove the fuel tank and exhaust pipe, undo the linkage off of the carb, and remove the rear 8 screws on the chassis (4 on each side). From there, slide the rear end off, and the engine out of the way, and you have clean access to the back side of the trans.

When re-assembling, don't forget the rear driveshaft!

Thanks alot HEARTBREAK you are really an enormous help. I'll try it out and keep you updated !!! Thanks again !later...:ahh:

17 years total, 7 years in nitro. Just my most recent two engines (OS, at that) have given me nightmares. The other 12 or so that I've owned haven't.

becareful with the brake pads on the dual disc brakes. this is the 3rd set now that the eye lets have ripped.

I'm going to try to add some sort of different adhesive.

Try a thin layer of shoe-goo. That stuff works wonders.

Wait a minute...what do i have to be careful with the dual disk brakes... what and where do i have to put some shoe-goo ???

The shoe-goo goes between the outer brake bar and the pad (you'll be glueing them to one bar - the middle bar remains bare).

Tis' no biggie. I actually enjoy helping out when I can.

As for the nightmare OS's, turns out they had bad o-rings.

Shoe-goo is basically rubber cement. You can get it at your local Walmart in the shoe department. It also comes in handy for mending the polycarbonate body (use a scrap as a "patch" and glue it to the back side of the body).

When you put a thin layer on the brake pad, it'll reinforce the pad by bonding it to the bar. It's an assembly-standard on 8th scale buggies; it helps prevents the pads from tearing in the middle of a race.

Would the rubber cement for the bicycle flats do the same job ?? and i looked for denatured alcool but did not find any...i can use brake cleaner right ? And i check in the shoe departement and nothing..I'm screwed !!!

I believe that's going to be a different compound. You definately want to use shoe-goo. If your local Wally-world doesn't have it (which is unlikely), you can check your local hardware store, or even your local 5 and dime. You could also check your local hobby shop.

Thanks ! gonna check it out...and about the denatured alcool? Can i use brake cleaner instead ??:ponder2:

You can, but it tends to leave a film. Denatured alcohol is a "cleaner cleaner" (if that makes sense). It doesn't tend to leave a film.

Hi everybody !!! Finished installing my hpi dual disk brake set(stainless steel) num.87150 And it works miracles ! One thing though;when i push my savage (not on) You can hear ringing, just like the disks where rubbing...:wtf: Is there anything i can do for that or its normal ???

the 2 screws holding your pads and such on, just back them out like 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn
