Hey guys. Working on the Savage and drinking a Michelob. Oh Yeah, listening to Alice Cooper.
Doing the dual brakes and going to go ahead and do the diffs. While I'm down should I check anything else? (Savage sure is a dog to work on.) Also what weight oil are most of you using in the diffs?

Got everything to do those plus the brake linkage.

I use 60,000 weight in my diffs and I run a T-Maxx with the stock diffs. If that helps at all.
 
i used bearing gease in the rear of mine. works great so far.

i found this to be of great help and went with the aggr. bashin and race setup. works great :banana:

~ 5000 Weight Front & 3000 Weight Rear - Aggressive Bashing & Racing

if u havent alrdy u may wanna do the MP steering servo saver mod since u have her apart, very nice mod that adds bearings and improves the steering alot. hope that helps :cheers:

Got the Savage back together yesterday. Lack of funds for the servo saver mod. Left the 300K in the diffs. Don't see where it can hurt. Think I should've went with 60K like Kodama.

For everyone that hasn't done the 4 spider mod. Do it. Mine is stock. Don't think I've ran quite a gallon of fuel through it. Front diff was OK. Back one had some wear on the cross pin and the housing already. I can see where this will beef it up.

The dual brake mod: If I hit the brake too hard, it will flip it now. That is with the stock linkage. Seems like the discs aren't lining up with the brakes all the time though. They will get cocked on the hub. Didn't cause any problems running it. But when I roll it, I can feel the brake catch. Thinking about making a small rubber washer and putting between the discs? Any thoughts? Anybody else had problems? :cheers:
 
Mine did the same thing and found that those skinny SS rotor were warped and bent!! I put another HPI kit on....I love the performance.
 
Rider, don't think they are warped. Just looked at em. Hadn't thought of that though. Act like they are cocking on the hub, maybe? I may have them too tight? I put one of the larger washers on it. May be where the middle shoe was "punch" cut and I needed to file the burr off the back?

Ran it once yesterday. Seemed like it was free wheeling ok. Seemed like it was catching when I was pushing it on the kitchen floor though. Rolled it over on its top 3 or 4 times hitting the brake. Rolled it back around on its wheels once. :LoL: Not used to having that much brake. I was hillclimbing with it when the plastic brake hub stripped out. (Coming back down, I'm trying to go slow because of a big rut.) Going to try to get out there this weekend if I can. Let ya know how it goes. :cheers:
 
Took the Savage out today after work. Had the brake too tight. Sure was sensitive for a bit. Had a blast! Hillclimbing. Was awesome watching all four wheels spinning. 12 or 13 year old kid was watching, so I let him try it once. :cheers:
