Hi guys,
My wife was so in to the Savage that she wanted her own...it's been an expensive couple of months at our place. Could be worse things to throw money at though.
Anyway. We got through the break in process without a hitch. Then she got an extremely weird problem. I can't figure it out unless it was a bad casting. She was literally pulling along at quarter throttle, put to brakes on to negotiate a turn and then got on the gas again. The truck revved but wouldn't move. The truck would roll forwards but would lock up when pushed backwards. I pulled the main gear cover off to see what was up, and found that about 4 teeth had sheared right off the metal drive gear and another 4 were almost worn. The plastic trans gears are FINE, there's a slight nick in one but that's all. The spur gear is also okay, there is a slight burring on 2 of the teeth but I think that's when she first noticed the lack of motion and I told her to kill it.
I've got the replacement parts to fix it, just seemed rare for the metal to strip and not the plastic. Everything else seems fine.
