Can the S-25 on the Savage RTR be drill started with a 18V cordless drill?, I just ordered a Savage 25 and was wondering if I will have to buy a 7.2 batt + charger or if I can just use my drill to start it. :ponder:

Thanks..

I have a Dirt demon and tried useing a drill in rev to start it and it just didnt have the power to get it going it was 18v dewalt w/450 lbs in tor and 1500 rpms and that was at full charge . your better off just buying the batt and charger .buying a charger is a good investment just make sure you buy one that has the ability to charge all kinds of batt's I have the duratrax piranha digital peak charger. its about $50

I start my savage with a drill every now and then. It won't work if it's too cold out though. When it's in the mid 40's or lower I have to use the rotostart.

My brother starts his with a cordless drill. Seems to work fine. Sounds a bit slow, but works. I'd say just get the pack and charger.

:OT:I am still new to the scene with my savage and i noticed when the rotostart is new it will eat one way bearing if your not careful . So i charged about three batteries full and held tension on the shaft of the rotostart with my hand(I put a glove on). And kinda ran it full bore through all the batteries. It kinda wore the motor in on the rotostart so it doesn't keep ripping the motor over when its flooded. Havent burnt a one since. Might not be the best idea for all , but it worked for me. :OT:

My dewalt 9.6v works for me in about 2 sec of rotation and it starts without any probs. I just prime the carb good. I'm here in cali. I'm using the drill right now cause my rotostart has a stripped gear and I don't want to buy the 30$ gears. :breakdown
