I let my friend drive my stock T-maxx and within the first 5 seconds he floors it and flips it, sending it scidding on its lid for at least 10 feet. The rubber coating over the wire is a little roughed up but I can't see any wire. Do you think this could cause glitching (I ran it for about 20 minutes after with no problems but havent run it since). After this incident It led me to as a precautionary measure put a rubber tube over the wire so this can't happen again (I can take pictures if anyone wants them) I think this would be a good cheap thing to do to the car, tell me if you think otherwise.

If there is no bare wire exposed, then you should be ok. The only thing to do is test your range with it (w/ a friend of course).

Another thing you can do is to cut a small piece of fuel tubing and slip it over the wire (where it is scraped). This will prevent any more damage from occurring at that same spot on the wire.

Here is a link to a pic, just make sure you cut the tubing wide enough to cover the scraped area. You can spray windex on the wire & tubing to help slide it on. Definitely make sure you don't have the power on while you are doing this.

It's the second to the last pic on the bottom....

You could also cover the scraped portion of the ant. with heat shrink, liquid electrical tape, or electrical tape. As long as the wire is not exposed you should be just fine.

what if only the tip of the antena is expossed? I also have some serious glitching, coul this be it?

I would doubt that is your problem. First check for any metal to metal rubbing as this is the most common cause of glitching. I have also had a bad set of crystals cause this for me when I was using the stock am radio on my T. Try changing the crystals out with another set.

uh I'm not going to range test with the truck running. especially if i think i have a problem with my radio. have a friend carry the non running truck away from the radio watching the tires, you can even turn the wheel occasionally. if you do not have a failsafe you will get a runaway. and even with a failsafe I'm still not doing it. you can get signal noise that might interfere with the absense of your radio, voiding your failsafe.

i pay way too much money for my RC's (even when i got started and had a stock truck) to do a running range test. my friends always want me to do a WOT all the way down the street (easily 1/4 mile) and thats just not called for.

PhillyB, thank you for catching that before someone took it as a good idea. Driving away slowly to check your range is possibly the worst advice I have heard yet on the net for someone with a glitching problem. Definately have someone hold it and walk away and keep walking to check your range. If that doesn't work, crank it and leave it at idle with him still holding it and start to walk away to see if it is vibration causing it. Just make sure he knows exactly how to cut it off immediatly if it starts to mis behave.

my truck weighs approximately 10 pounds or so. it is completely metal now, except for wheels/body/servos etc. traveling at WOT id say it goes at least 30-35 or more maybe. (.21 power!) that is quite a large amount of force for such a small area such as a front bumper, ends up being quite a few pounds of force per square inch.

you can see where it could become a ballistic missile capable of shattering EVERYTHING in its path. i am constantly worried about hitting things even when I'm in control lol.

i should range check everywhere i go but i dont, I'm never really that far away from it, and use an FM radio.

not to mention how you could overrev the motor and blow it up or any other number of things that could happen to the truck itself.
