It just came to me that many of my friends don't actually know that I am into RC. I'm talking about the people that you talk to, are friends with, but never cared to hangout over the weekend or anything. It's almost like it's a secret there, but if I'm home, no matter who is there I'll talk about RC related topics from time to time. Is this the same with you guys or is it just me? What about you ol' guys, if you had Rc stuff when you were in school, was it discussed on a regular basis, or at all?

I'm not in school but I dont talk rc with my "buddies", they started off with tmaxx's with me but lost interest fast so I dont mention it, although I really dont hang out with the ol crew much any more either...rc's have changed my crowd.

I don't really talk much about them in school except occasionally with some. I managed to get about 3 into the hobby so we occasionally discuss stuff in school and they're always asking me about them. But other than that, I don't really talk about my stuff to other people.

I guess they think being in highschool and playing with hobby grade ratio controlled vehicles is too immature for them. I bet I'd get a hard time if I were to tell them that I bought what they concider for $500 and spent probably $200 in "extra junk". I stay that quiet kid that you don't know much about for a reason, unless your a friend;)

I have a buddy at work who is a pretty good artist and has been getting into the tattoo biz over the last couple years. I'm not into tattoos really but he still shows and tells me about his work because I can appreciate it. I talk to him somewhat about my r/c projects but it's the conversations about my body projects that he gets into the most.

I am a hardcore racer, but I keep RC on the down low..people don't really get it, and I don't feel like explaining because they probably won't care.

I dont' hide it. I can understand that the younger crowd won't get it though. Kids/teens/young adults are more apt to see them as toys rather than models. When you get a little older and your crowd does too you'll see that people may not understand it, but they at least get it to an extent. The people at work that I show my projects too always have positive responses and they tend to be somewhat impressed with the level of detail that we put into our rigs.

telling friends

i v been into drag racing since 1955. most of my friends and all my family know iam realy into drag raceing. iv been in rc only 5 mo and ALL my friends and family know iam into rc. i only do one hobby at a time, and i REALY get into it. from 1966 to 1969 my dad and i went to tulsa each october for the worlds points finales. i got to see the org 1968 ply, dodge hemi cudas, with ronnie socks driving one, they made only 50 ply, 50 darts. at that time it was goeing 10.5s, now they are going 8.4s. it is the quickest super stock car, per NHRA rules. an org car are now collectors cars worth $500,000. NHRA lets you build a hemi cuda from a regular cuda. nuf rambuling
