I just got a hpi savage xl 5.9 and i want to change the stock engine to picco p3.28. Do i need to change the stock assembly clutch bell or spur gear or something to fit with the new picco p3 engine? or i dont need to change anything and the new engine will fit direct to the savage xl?

It should bit directly in, they're both big blocks, if they both have the same shafts like sg the clutch will fit fine

Can i use the stock roto start for the new picco p3.28 engine?

Just wondering if you gave that 5.9 a chance inside your XL? I thought you might want to give it a shot for the heck of it to see if it becomes a statistic.

Do you think the 5.9 engine will work good? that engine still brand new, it didnt even see fuel.

Everything I've read says it's pot luck. I'd seal it,break it in and run it but that's me. If you have the money and want a better engine from the get-go,then get the Picco and sell the new 5.9. You should be able to get a big chunk of your money back that way.

I heard that the 5.9 engine will have a lot problem later, is that true? and is it durable?

I haven't had personal experience with the 5.9. Like I said above the reviews I've read show it's a toss up. Some really like them others don't. It's a mass produced,ready-to-run engine so tolerances aren't as precise as the higher priced engines like the Picco. Some will be better than others. For bashing,I'd give it a proper break-in and see how it goes from there. If this were a race situation,I wouldn't bother with it and just get the Picco and recoup what I can from the new 5.9

i just want to bashing with it, so i think i should keep the 5.9 right?

I agree with racer seal it up and break it in. I would suggest you loosen the glow plug before you try to turn it over. Run it and form your own opinion about it. I didnt have much luck with mine nor did my neighbor. Our main problem was the one way bearing kept failing. I got tired of having to constantly take the enigine off and either clean or replace the bearing and the shaft.
