wow... the stock traxxas clutch shoes suck really bad. i had them for a while when my truck was mostly stock and it was doing okay, but i had never tried anying different so i wouldnt have known something could be better.

then i got an epic18 and put some MIP clutch shoes in.... lemme just say DAMN total improvement and i had them on the gradual (sp) setting and was still picking the front end up.

then i got the throttle linkage screwed up in the spurgear and ate up the MIP shoes, and my lhs didnt have the MIP ones anymore, so i bought stock ones... and they are horrible i hate them, they suck and have no gripping power at all

just thought i would let you know, and putting a nice set shoes (or a 3shoe system) would be a total and extreme improvement to all traxxas products.

However aluminum does add heat to the clutch too. As far as the take off it had more to do with the mass and tension of the spring than it does the actual shoes themselves. I had my stock t-maxx shoes survive the life of my pro .15 and a gallon or two of my hyper .21.
