ok so i was runnin the truck in the 2nd day of having it and she was awsome. then she died. so i went to start it and she wouldnt. like it sounded like the electric start wasn't turnin the motor over. so i pulled the starter off the motor (it was loose) and the gears looked fine. i looked at the roller bearing and i think it may be the problem. i took the truck back to hobby people and they came to the same conclusion. I'm like ok, but they didnt have the part so i have to wait and I'm not sure if they will just give it to me. i dont want to call hot bodies cuz i heard their customer service sucks. ne one have ne other ideas on what the problem could be???

thanks

Ooooops....when I read Dirt Demon, I thought we were talking about a vaccuum cleaner....

Ok, all kidding aside. When you took the electric start off, could you turn the engine by hand? I mean can you turn the flywheel? If so, then at least the engine isn't seized. To check the one way bearing, slip it back onto the shaft on the back of the engine. It should turn one way, but not the other. If it turns both ways, then it's messed. It may just need a cleaning and oiling. Also, with the starter motor off the engine, attach the starter battery and turn it over for a minute. Just to see of the gears are indeed turning.

i found out the problem. the one way bearing is 2 pieces. the inner piece was spinning inside the outer. So i locktited them and so far so good. i started the truck a lot this weekend and it is still holding together.

my 2-cents worth.
I have the Dud Demon & a T.Q. with a XTM 24.7 I converted the 24.7 to roto-start & the D.D. came with it. The orig. .21 in the T.Q. has the same bearing in the pull start. I've been through 2 1-way bearings so far & just replaced the 1 in the D.D. The Savage also has the same 1-way bearing. I believe the roto starts put to much force on the bearing as the roller cage in the 1-way is plastic. At $16 a pop I can't afford this. Once I have the engine broken in & tuned it starts easy so I'm replacing the roto starts with pull starts till they come up with a better bearing. I'll use the roto-start in my shop for bench testing. You can also loosen the glow plug 1/4-1/2 turn out, the engine will still start but with less compression which could help ease the force on the one way bearing. the one-ways in most trucks are the same. I got my last one from tower who had a blow up of the bearing for the Savage
