who here owns dirt bikes? if you own one what is it?

the reason I'm asking this question is cause i just got one for my bday and wanted to see who else owned one.

btw i have '92 kawasaki kx125, and it kicks ass!!

:D

I have two. 85 yamaha 250 4 stroke. 94 suzuki rm 250 2 stroke. Both are a lot of fun. One has too much power for me and the other doesn't have enough.

yeah the 125 is a 2 stroke and it has balls.....i could imagine what the rm250's like....

I also have a RM 250 a 2001. Lots of fun and kinda weird how I'm still livin on that death machine..lol CRAZY FAST!

and what sucks for me is I'm only lik 5' 5" and i can barely touch the holy moly floor.....i already have to take it to the parts shop too, first time out first time wrecked, and not by my hands.......i let my friend ride the green machine big mistake.......oh well...

I use to ride a KX65 with a mate but i sold it because it was too small for me! Hoping to get a TTR 125 soon!

you gotta be like 6 feet tall to be able to reach both your feet on a full size dirt bike. I'm only 5 6. maybe 5 7 on a good day.

Do you work on the bike yourself? Your going to want to learn if you dont. It will get expensive quick. These 2 stroke engine rev like crazy and have to be rebuilt quite often. I rebuild my rm 250 about every 50 hours of riding. It still runs good after that, but just not very good. My 85 yamaha 4 stroke, on the other hand, I dont even remeber changing the oil in that thing. Runs like a champ.

Have you been on any mx tracks yet? If your in-experienced like i am, prepare to see 10 and 12 year old kids flying pass you. At first its disturbing, but I got use to it.

i plan on doing work on it myself, maybe with some help from my uncle and dad....theyre both pretty well experienced mechanics so the three of should be able to take care of the maintnance on the bike...

no i havent gone to any tracks yet, it probably wont be a while till i go to any tracks...this is my first bike so i have some time to get use to it....

koo! I hope you have fun with that thing. And remeber when you start getting some big air. Throttle bring the nose up and rear brake brings the nose down. Just like with rc cars.

I've got two 4wheelers....kinda dirt bikes, just 2 extra wheels. Nothing fancy, both are '02 Polaris Trailblazers, 2wd. Fun for the trails and even more fun to jump!

Wait till you have to work on one Gil.. If it wasn't for polaris 4 wheelers, my dads small engine shop would ahve went under. I'm not saying it tobe a dink, just they seem to have bad luck. Like right now my dad has 4 Polaris 4 wheelers (Ones a 2004..lol) and 3 lawnmowers and one garden tiller...

TwoPie just remember to keep a helmet on all the time. I wiped out on my bike back when I first got it preatty bad and had gravel road rash everywhere on my body cept' the face cuz I had my lid on. But it was all scratched to poop and broke the visor. But yeah have fun, good luck, be safe.

This is cool, two threads about dirt bikes today. Here is my 01 RM250. I race it in desert cross-country type events, and occasionally go to the track. This was taken in Flagstaff AZ last summer at 7,000 feet elevation.

ill def keep the lid on, id rather be safe than sorry....it pretty much saved my cousin last week...he got launched off the bike and landed on his head, he suffered a concusion, but if it werent for the helmet i bought that morning.....

theres alot of dirt bike owners on this board...very cool....

i can't wait to get some sick air, but it probably wont be for a while..... but when i do, ill make sure to snap some shots and post them.

I currently have a Husky TC610 4 Stroke MXer. I started riding at the young age of four and raced for over 20 years. I raced my last race in the spring of '01 and looked to fill that competive side with something else. I tried everything you could imagine till I got my 1st off road NITRO!! I raced 125 and 250A and even won a few small year long points series in the great state of TN. I still will never miss Lorettas since its less than an hour away but the memories from all those years are something I rewind in my head daily. My dad raced in the late 60's and my brother and i raced forever it seems like.

I raced AMA,NMA and GNC and to this day the first memory that comes to mind is riding the rolling hills with my lil bro and my dad. I can't even explain how precious those times are to me these days.

thanks for jarring my head and bringing the smell of castor oil back once again

Nice bike ScottM - I'd have some fun on that beast. I use to run 250's when I was hardly tall enough to reach the footrests and In hindsight I'm suprised I didn't seriously injur myself. I didn't know FlagStaff was sitting @ 7,000 feet..damn.

twopie - Nice dude. 125 is definitley my favorite size. I use to own various Suzuki bikes but I they've been long sold for 4x4Projects.
