I was bashing with beason yesterday and ended up blowing out a diff. Was wanting to know what I could do to them to make them stronger.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Fastlane Machine makes a modified gear set with an aluminum carrier and 3mm screws instead of the stock 2mm.

I believe Robinson Racing also makes a stronger gear set.

Also, the stock Traxxas diff case is very weak, a good aftermarket aluminum set will help by adding more suport (they use 4 screws to hold the case together instead of 2).

The gears have a good bit of slop so I think shims would help. I had a good link on how to shim the diff and pinion but can't seem to find it.

Yes, shimming does help a hell of a lot, and the stock plastic diff housing and case flexes some so the pinion can start skipping teeth and the blowing out. The combo of the aluminum diff housing as shown above and the shimming of the gears will greatly increase the durability. I think traxxas messed up when they designed the diffs, cause they are too weak, even with the 2.5...

it just started clicking like crazy and next thing you know i'm running front wheel drive.
I didnt jump it hard or anything.

Yeah, they are weak... Upgrading would help your prob... Shimming plays a big part of durability...

I dont understand what is blowing them out. My e-maxx is all torque and never a diff problem.
