Differential gears this is what happened to the last set

If you are using that self righting feature then I would not use it anymore. The back and forth shocks the gears and strips differential or gear teeth. Looks like rust too. You driving that thing in water?
 
There has been no maintenance of these components: a liquid corrosion, I think water. does not look like a mating error or normal wear and tear of a sprocket.
 
Did it fall into a vat of acid!?
