hey guys i was wondering how thick of oil to put in my diffs, and how much. Do i totally fill it? I will be running on the track and wanted to go through my diffs as far as bearings so i wanted to put some heavy oil in. Just not sure how heavy to go. Thanks

Put the heaviest you can find in front and mix it with a lighter weight in rear. This helps the front pull better in turns. I actually use Lucas oil stabilizer straight outta the bottle in front and mix a little trans fluid to thin it for rear. Don't know the weight of it but it's thicker than molasses! It works great for me.

i thought i remembered people saying something about using plumbers putty or something? Or should i just use the diff oils?

i have plumbers putty with a couple drops of diff oil in both my revos ...but i dont race ..i just bash around ...i like it like that ...its a matter of choice

never mind, i found the post about the unconsistancy of the puttys due to the temp changes. Sounds pretty reasonable to me so i will pick up some diff lube. It does however make both sides have more equal power goin to them with heavier oil. Like towards the spool direction, just not locked in right?

Unless you want very little diff action and a very squirrelly handling truck, use diff oil.

I use ofna diff lock 120,000 in some of mine, and it works well.
Traxxas should add 2 or 4 more gears to their diffs, it would make them work a lot better.

ok thanks guys. I will try some diff oil and experiment a little bit. Will that hinder my turning at all. i know if a rear were to completely locknin a car it will squeal tires goin around corners. But i guess dirt woudnt have that kind of traction though. Whats ur thoughts on that?

50k is a bit thin for me. I second the ofna diff lock.

K thanks guys.If i went with the ofna 120,000, should i use it in both front and rear? Or something liter in the rear?
