i was thinking something in the diff was broken because a loud clicking noise is made when i rotate one of the front wheels.i removed the front diff and there was no broken or chipped teeth but i looked and there is alot of room in between the diff and the diff housing which is causing the slipping of the gears because there is so much play. do i need a new diff housing? what is going on?

Most likely needs new bearings and needs to be shimmed.

thank you guys for answering my question i appreciate it.
