I am wondering if anybody has tried using wheel bearing grease in their diffs.

I have used it in the old diff's that weren't sealed. I would pack them full and let it squeeze out as I assembled it. It works pretty good actually. I used to use high temp bearing grease and some teflon grease half and half. The Krytox teflon grease is really thick, and when you mix it with the bearing grease it makes for a fairly stiff diff.

yup
that nice thick stuff that we have about 4 cans of around here.
just wondering if ya think it will work as good as oil.

I would think that even automotive bearing grease would be fine to use in diffs. It's formulated to take high heat temperatures. Take your wheel bearings for example. Most of them now a days are sealed bearings. Back on the old drum assembly's where you had the little thingy to take off and pull the cotter pin than the drum assembly would come off. OK what I mean here is bearing grease for a wheel bearing can handle temps of up to 80-90 mph. Our R/C's only in the case of a savage around 40 if we are lucky. It should handle it just fine.
