Okay guys I am out of bad horsie diff grease. And I am rebuilding the diffs in my nephews project truck. So what is a good grease for a budget. His diffs are the old maxx stuff, don't think they are the sealed ones.

Well yah, I could but I was looking to put something thicker to act as the bad horsie grease. That ofna picco maxx .21 puts out some serious grunt, i know because my old revo runs same engine, and its almost uncontrolable.:D

If u don't want to put wheel bearing grease in,"which is pretty thick" the only other option that I think would be redily available to you would be the plumbers puddy

Do you just pack the diff cup in plumpers putty?

Yes just like you do the badhorsie. Just clean all old oil out of it and pack it tight with the plumbers putty.

I thought i read somewhere that crisco works as a great diff lube. I never tried it though.

Well I used the plumbers puddy on the rear diff cup. And slick 50 heavy duty wheel bearing grease on the rest. It dang near turned it into a spool but I figure a couple passes and she will lossen up some.:D

right i took my t-maxx out and it bobs and weaves all over the place at the rear it bump steers, everything the works it basically draws S-patterns goin on the straight. I'm positive stiffening the rear diff is the answer. I'm ordering bad horsie but i was wondering if old dirty engine oil would work in the meantime? 10w-40 in paticular?

Old dirty engine oil contains gasoline and is not as thick as fresh 10-40

I would wait on the bad horsie grease that stuff works great. I can tell ya I think the plumbers putty is going to work pretty good.:D

i though the old gunky stuff would be like tar in comparision to new engine oil.
glad i asked. ahh if the A-arms arrive tomorrow its all gonna have to get done then y'know. diff is comin out anyway during that operation it needs to go into a aluminuim shell i got last week.

Dont wastw tome putting engine oil in your diffs. If anything go to parts store and buy some lucas oil stabilizer. Or if your low on cash go the plumbers putty route. You may even like the putty better than the bad horsie.

Waste time damn fat fingers typing too fast.

Yep the plumbers puddy seems to work great. A plus is its cheap.

I know i like the bad horsie and just bought my second container of it when i ordered my emaxx diffs. I now have enough left to pack another set of diffs if i have to. Need to break my buggy diffs down and rebuild them now but wont use anything that heavy in them. I will use the lucas oil stabilizer front center and rear on it.

Will blutack work?
Gonna check for plumbers putty tomorrow not sure if lucas oil stablizer is over here (it might be onee of those magical american compounds our shops dont have). But i shall check or find a similar oil stablizer.

Never heard of blutack myself. Another brand of stabilizer should be as thick and sticky as lucas. I discovered it when i was recommended to use it with each oil change in my semi truck when i had it still. Stuff takes forever to pour from gallon jug. Its as thick as molasses or thicker. I tried it once in my revo diffs and it worked really well.
