Guys I need to know where to save weight. I want this thing to weigh as little as possible, so I can keep up with my compeitition. My dad's mgt is freakishly fast, and my buddy is building up a tnx. I do'nt want to drop the coin for a new mill because mine is running great, its getting ported and I have a spare p/s set for it. Help me out here!!!!

Pics would be great too!

I guess I missed it when you got a Revo.

Are you running the stock mill? If so, the new Traxxas pipe is supposed to really wake it up.

Also, go to single steering servo, ditch the reverse and optidrive and do the FOC, the servo box on the throttle side, get the aluminum pushtubes and all the otehr aluminum parts from Traxxas. You can get it to about 6-6.5 lbs if you are careful. I have heard the Vantage chassi also sheds a lot of weight.

Take alook at your wheels, too. With a smaller engine you will want as light of wheel mass to spin. More acceleration if you have less rotating mass at the wheel.

You didn't know I had a revo? Really??

I'm running a single air 358 for steering, got rid of the optidrive, and reverse. I have the lunsord turnbuckles, but I'm not sure on the pushtubes. I'm thinking I might get a new mill

One of the big engine companies is comming out with a new .23 that is supposed to be intense. Depending on the price I might go with that!

I'll tell you one thing, that RB 23 is one heck of a lot of power for the price, and the kit is 100% complete, nothing more to added.

my most helpful weight reductions were the response tires/hurricane wheels, the pivot balls, the pushrods, the toelinks, the FOC, and the single servo conversion for steering. there's some other things i did, but those made the biggest difference. i pretty much just have all the traxxas "x" parts on mine. i'm down about 7.75 pounds fully ready to race and i haven't cut any plastic or anything yet.

Response tires on Hurricane's is probably one of the BIGGEST weight savers you can do. It's unreal how light they are. Just remember to belt em so they don't balloon too much, especially if you install a big block. With a big block though you may want to go with a bit heavier tire like the Panther Python. I honestly think the Traxxas red pushrods suck major ass. They are weak as hell and the design is bullshit but that's my opinion and I guess I'm entitled to it since I broke one the very first heat I ran with it and then broke another the next heat. They break right at the base of the threads for the rod end. I went with Lunsfords there. Now the Traxxas Tubes (turnbuckles) are a different story, I've had good luck with them and I've heard bad things about the Lunsfords. You really don't want to go too light either, you need some weight there for better control. I wouldn't worry about the TNX too much, one of the guys at our local track had one and it literally broke every heat. He was soooo pissed at it that he threw his JR XS3i off the driver's stand and into a puddle of water!

are stock maxx wheels and tyres lighter than stock savage wheels and tyres?

(I've posted this here because i didnt want to go making another thread)

Maxx wheels are heavier than a Revo wheel, but I do nto know about a Savage wheel.

I have had no problems with the aluminum parts for the toe links and control arms, but I know how to land from a jump on the doubles and triples in a race unlike Jey...:jk: ...as far as other weight, the Hurricanes are light, and really help the small block 2.5r a lot. I have a set I am considering letting go. Never used.

I have a pile of stuff I need to take photos of. I'll get you some today Jet and PM you. I'll let them go cheap because the dirty little secret of these is that the tires were my first DIY glue job. Everything is OK, just not the neatest job.

jetmech you say you have the traxxas red tubes....where did you get them, everyplace I have looked is either sold out, or just doesn't list them. Tower says mid-Feb. Traxxas is out of stock. where else to look?

Got mine when they first came out. I had them ordered through my lhs and was in on the first they received. Check with Bruce at RushRC, if he doesn't have any and the other shops are out, check eBay. I need to make a run to the shop soon, I'll keep an eye out for you if you'd like.
