didn't mean to start poop

hey guys I ment nothing by it! I was talking to a few people in the savage section before I got my truck. I could'nt decide between the two. But I ended up geting the t-maxx becaus it was the truck of the year. sorry for any probs I may have caused. the new truck frickin screams! no problems on the break in or getting it tuned. I just got back from my first time to the track, and after a couple laps was ripping it up. this is an absolute blast!! only problem I got is the batteries in the car rub dead after two tanks? Is the a better way than having to unscrew that frickin box and then screwing it back into the car? Thanks again for a great forum. peace.

hmm I'm not sure about the tmaxx but could you possibly install a hump back rechargeable battery?

You think that batt. box is a pain, try changing batts on a xxxnt...
You can get 5 cell rechargable NIMH packs for the Tmaxx.... I, along with many other members will definately recommend it as on of you first upgrades.... You'll find many on Ebay, and I'm sure they'll be others recommended to you. I run the Dynamite & Peak hump packs in my RC's.

do you have to remove them from the truck? or can you swap them out pretty qwuikly? Is this normal for them to run low that fast?

You don't actually remove them. You can charge them already installed in the truck. You just have to leave a little charge chord hanging from the battery box. Using a hump pack is definitely a must have if you are running a aftermarket Hi torque steering servo.

The rechargeable hump packs are installed in the battery box & dont need to be removed. There usually a charging lead that hangs out of the box so it can be charged in place. I can get about (3hrs runtime) on a freshly charged 1100 NIMH hump pack.

my batteries usually last like a gallon unless some jerk(me) leaves them on while the truck sits in my trunk for 3 or 4 days...then they die faster...but for the most part I have had pretty good luck w/duracell batteries.

How not to remove the pack to recharge it and save a few bucks on that "special" switch to chage them.

You can do it yourself if you have a soldiering iron and some electrical tape or liquid tape.

Cut the wire leading to the batteries AT the 4 cell holder. Strip back 1/4 inch of the insulation and set aside.

You will need to strip back or remove the insulation on the receiver pack wires about 2 inches from the batts. Only about 1/4 inch should be removed.

Solider the wires together w/ black on black and red on red. Be sure to cover the exposed area with tape or liquid tape. This will allow you to charge the pack while it is in the case. When you re-assemble the case, be sure to hang about 1 inch of the receiver wire out so you can plug the batts into the charger.

Simple and cheep fix....

Charge rate..... MAKE SURE YOU CAN charge the pack at about 1 amp. Anyting more will "cook" the batts and you will be looking for a new pack.
