Detonation????

I was just recently running my almost stock T-maxx with the TRX 2.5 in about 20 degree weather. It was making a kind of detonation sounding noise which I believe indicates that it is too hot but it was reading 230 at the glowplug. It is plenty rich and there is a good cloud of blue smoke coming from the exaust tip so I dont know what the problem is. Is this detonation sound ok or do you still think I am running too lean. Thanks

Can you elaborate a little on what a detonation sounds like. I've blown up quite a few things using C-4 over the years and the sound I am thinking of I can't associate with RC in and way.

It sounds like it does in a car only higher pitched, kind of a drone after you let off the gas.

You could have something loose in your pipe or your pipe itself might be loose in the mount. You also could be leaking air somwhere between your head and the stinger and this is causing the drone. The drone was way better than detonation. Hope this helps.

Thanks, It does help. It only happens when I do a high speed run and then let it coast for a while. It almost sounds as if the idle speeds way up.
