I picked up a victorious racing desert eagle with no battery. This truck is 7.4v but I had no 7.4 battery. I hooked a 9.6 up to it & it powers on but the controller doesn't link to the truck. It is the controller that came with the truck.
I'm a complete n00b with RC. Will the 9.6v battery damage anything? Is there a procedure to sync the controller with the truck?
Thanks for putting up with this n00b,guys.

There are some things that just dont make any sense to me...how does 1 think a 8 cell battery fully charged is the same as a 6 cell?.read model # of your remote and see if you can find any info on how to bind it? here ...http://www.tjinguytech.com/charging-how-tos
basic info all rc ers need to know..

9.6v is insufficient to power up a 7.4v device?
Where do I say they're the "same"?
Was your reply meant to be helpful in some way?

most ESCs have a built in voltage detector so if you hook up a battery that is to high it will not work. this is to keep from burning up elect. try a 2 cell lipo and if you need to you can look up binding your receiver.

I ordered the correct battery for it. I appreciate your help. I am very interested in this hobby but I have a lot to learn. I'm a gearhead almost from birth lol. I've worked in various shops as an auto tech over the years including a German car specialist shop. That was my favorite. I got my hands on a V8 BMW sport wagon when I was there. Awesome car! I love fast motorbikes and I bought a '07 ZX14 that was a cosmetic wreck & I brought it back to life. That thing scares me real good sometimes. I live for that idiocy even at 63 years old lol.
Anyways,I figure I can learn this one eventually. It's a lot of fun.
