Hey guys,

I was thinking of switching my steel spur gear and tranny gears to delrin gears because lots are satisfied with it, but I was wondering if anybody had experience with delrin. It's suppose to be stronger and longer lasting than plastic, that's the main reason I want it. Anybody have delrin spur gears, tranny gears? LMK. Thanks!

BTW: I was influenced by this Savage from Savage-Central for the delrin gears:

There's also a picture of how the gear looks after 1.5 liters, but I think 1 picture is enough.

pretty boy truck. Lots of cash that looks great but doesn't necessarily perform as well as a vechicle with that much cash invested should. I'm mainly looking at that carbon pipe.
Anyway, on to your question. I think a delrin spur would be great but i don't know about tranny gears. Delrin is a great material but that doesn't mean you should use it everwhere. I think steel tranny gears would hold up beyond the life of the truck and generally plastic spurs hold up for quite a long time as well. Plastic spurs are what i run on everything and i have blown out the spiders in an e-savage and firestorm all while the spur showed little sign of wear.
I say plastic spur and steel tranny.

Ah okay, I was thinking of steel-tranny also, but it's way more expensive then I thought I would spend, but it'll hold up. The problem I'm having with plastic spurs are that they always strip on me if I don't have a correct mesh, even after doing the paper method. I just put back the plastic spur back on (Because I had steel before) and I'll see how it does. Thanks!

IMHO, I like Rolex's Savage better, even if it hasn't been run. If the dude who had the Savage above kept it like how it looks in the picture, there might be a slight change, but since I don't like PhaltLine tires and the Cuda body on a Savage, it's Rolex's Savage for me :D.

It is?! Wow, I read some bad information. They told me it was a material that was harder and more lasting than plastic, but it is plastic. Anyways, I like how it's the color white because my next theme is a black and white savage :D.

Actually, that's pretty dull. I'll do black, purple, with some white.

I've been wondering about this as well. I have a TMaxx with a pretty heavy duty drivetrain and right now the weak link is inside the tranny. I was thinking it would be much more efficient in the case of a failure if my weak link was the spur (which is ideal anyways). So I was considering replacing the plastic 1st and 2nd speed gears with RRP steel and having a Delrin spur made. I'm pretty sure nobody makes a 1.0 module spur for the TMaxx. At least I've never heard of it.

Delrin has good self lubricating properties which make it a suitable material for use in gears. It is also fairly inexpensive and easy to machine.
