Every since I traded my crawler I have kinda wished I had kept it. It was fun could do it indoors and the kids were great obstacles to climb. I had tossed around the idea of geting another. The market has grow so much and there is such a huge selection now. I have sorta narrowed my choices down to two.

First- the XTM X-Crawler Super Class

Pros-all billet, uses tires I have a lot of....can crawl over almost anything. Real good price...$200 for the ARTR. Bigger selection of batteries than a 2.2 size crawler.
Cons- Very heavy, needs bigger area to crawl, could never be used to compete. Needs BIG motors. Tires are nothing special...no 1/8 scale crawler tires made.

Second- is the Newage 2.2 Competition Rock Crawler kit

Pros
- Solid billet construction like the other. Very capable crawler. Can be used for comp if I wanted to. Can use smaller motors than the X-crawler. Can be used in smaller area. Tires specifically made for crawling.
Cons- Smaller battery selection. Cost more, $269 for the kit.

So what do you guys think? X-crawler or NewAge 2.2?

the XTM has TONS of problems from what I've heard plus its a super, 2.2 class to me is funner, just the perfect size. I would 100% go with the berg. Battery selection in lipo is not a problem at all! I'm running mine on the front axle of my berg but most run em on the rear axle where there alot of room or on the skid plate since theres no silly transmission. I would start off with some axles and just build one though personally but either way thats definatly the route i would take. The stock berg chassis and suspension leave little to be desired and you would prolly want some losi shocks or big bores instead plus a different chassis.
With electronics the XTM is really gonna need to have two esc's running off a something like a dx6 to work right when on the berg you can just do a few little things and have little to no stall off of just one esc and a regular radio. Just my opinion though but get what you want. Feel free to pm too if you need any help.

battery reference....1500mah 3s lipo on my front axle (45 minutes run time)

Yeah what Lloyd said, LOL!!! I would go with a 2.2 of some sort as well but probably not either of the 2 you are looking at, there are better ways to go that will give you a much more capable crawler, JMO...

well out of all the choices on the market if you have a shafty and a MOA, both setup the same with the same driver the moa will out perform the shafty, no brainer, has all the wieght as low as possible, the shafty still has a trans, and if it has dig will have a servo up top aswell so to get a shafty to have the low cog of a moa you have to sacrifice belly clearance in most cases, not all but most. Other than going moa at this point i would just suggest trying the losi since theres upgrade cvd's out now it will be the next best thing to a moa and its fully comped out of the box.

Yea go with the new age berg, but also consider the losi, it is an awesome car out of the box

I was looking into getting one of the xtms. because of the price i thought it was a good price. and i was talking to someone that owns one and they said that it would cost about a grand to get it running.

yeah, just about any crawler you can go with a simple setup about 300 dollars or go with a excellent setup for about 800.
