hi

I'm torn between 2 things at the moment.

now the savage 25 has been discontinued, there is no reasonably price rtr savage other than the 3.5.

has anyone got one? does it have adiquate power?

i can't decide if to sell my mildly hoped up maxx and get the 3.5, or, keep the maxx and put an os .18 in it. (this will make the maxx more expensive than the 3.5 which i wasn't hoping on doing)

the other truck that looks good is the thunder tiger mt4a (basicly a ae mgt but with a bigger engine.)

i just wanted peoples opinions (or experience) on these 2 trucks. (the maxx is good for the money , but i need more hill climbing power)

thanks

Well I would sell the Maxx and get the Savage 3.5. I have never drivin a 3.5 but I'm sure it has plenty of power.

thanks for the reply, but , i could do with somone that has owned the 3.5 or th mt4 to tell me what they think of it?

i did this with the tmaxx, looked at the price and hopups available and bought it. its my second nitro and its good but it doesn't have climbing power and i find the motor hard to tune even with my attempts to keep the engine cooler.
( i think i made the wrong decision:loser: )

so I'm saving up for either one or the other.

I'm swaying toward the savage at the moment, (supercharged's one still kicks ass after about 3 years of ownership.) mainly because of the proven durability, power, and upgrades available.

now I've reached my 100 posts, anyone want a tmaxx? lol

Id wait till the Savage X comes out myself. The 3.5 is the old savage .21 revived. Might as well keep the maxx. There not bringing in to much at the time.

well its allready out over here.

its just the price i can't afford.

i might have to sell my bike to get it. (be good tho, no one else with have it:ponder2: )

its it worth the extra wad of cash to get it?

There not out here yet, but I'm a big HPI fan and esp love there savages. I think it looks pretty damn sweet. I just bought my Savage 25 in Feb, and love it. Best truck I ever owned.

Are you dead set on a RTR? I know nothing about Thunder Tiger's (none of the shops here locally even sell them), but if the .25 is discontinued and you don't have the scratch for the "X", maybe the SS 4.6 is worth considering? May consider getting a used one as well. I bought a used 4.6, had everything but an engine. Dropped a Wasp .28 in it and that thing runs like a raped ape now! Been beating the crapola out of it as well!

Just my opinion! Good luck!

I like the way the Monkey thinks, keep your electronics from the maxx and go with the 4.6 you won't regret it.

weill microtech have one more savage 25 left in stock.

i could do with selling the maxx first tho.

how much do you think i could sell it for?

its got..
FOC
revo head
blue tuned pipe
alu chassis braces
traxxas temp gauge

its had roughly 2 1/2 gallons through it.

ok I've reserved one of the last savage 25's.

just got to sell my maxx, any one interested?

cos it ran great when we went down the park and now its gone back to being a pig again.

the other thing is that I'm afraid to jump it cos i dont want to break it. (notice i wasn't jumping it over the hill down the field)

it also has no hillclimbing power, so i just have to rev the hell out of it to get it pull up hills.

I've never said that the maxx is better than sav (i dont think), it just kills it on top speed, but top speed is no good if you can't match that to pulling power and durability.

i dont really want to buy a new motor for the maxx, as i think that rtr's should have a good enough engine when new, not having to change it as soon as you buy it.

hopefully, the savage will last me more than 3 months (unlike my last 2 nitro's)

you should have jumped it and see if you could match mine with the number of cartwheels i think i managed 9 in total

Been retuning the sav on some bricks seems to run at a nice temp but i thought it would be hotter because there no air moving over the head

i might get a hand held temp gauge. (unless you chip in and pay for half lol)

did you feel it hit 3rd yet?

3rd is very easy to get to when its tuned decent and when your not in a garden 15m x 10m

what guage you thinking of getting the nova ones look good

yea 17 quid not bad.

is it tuned correctly now?

what did you think of the s25 engine that comes with the sav? I'm guessing it has more climbing ability than the trx 2.5?

still overheating that may be because i was revving it till it hit second and it wasn't moving if this is the case it probably tuned good if not i want OS 30

as for the engines climbing abiliy trx 2.5 is small block s-25 big block you decide

i'm thinking of ordering a nova head so if you give me the money i could order one at the same time

nova head? why? arent you just gonna change the engine anyway? the head on that engine is huge anyway.

just take it to 'the track' and tune it from scratch there.

i havent got the money for an engine and i can't seem to get decent performance without it overheating anymore it may be the blue thunder fuel before i buy anything i'm going back to byrons 25% to see if that helps
