All teams have a set of "go, no-go" rules that must be adhered to strictly. Of course there's minimal margins for a "play" of the rules but that's mostly for body and aerodynamics. Shoot, even afterwards, the whole car is torn down and put under a microscope just to make sure there was no cheating.

Not a chance. You can believe one thing if he was sponsored by let's say Tampax he wouldn't have half the fans he has now. It's all about the Bud.

You want to explain how there are different rules for different teams? "engine must take this amount of air..." what do you think a restrictor plate does, why do you think they are all required to use the same size carb? "your body must meet this requirement..." What do you think the body templates are for? All cars of the same make are required to meet the exact same specs as the next one, i.e. all fords MUST fit the template or they can not run, same with the Chevys and Pontiacs, and Dodges. How does nascar cater to any one team? Have you ever been in a nascar garage? tech area? media center? I have I have seen the great lengths gone to, to see all the cars are as equal as possible. When the #1 qualifier and the #42 qualifier are seperated by half a second, I would say the cars are pretty damn equal.

Well I know that before a team can use a racecar, they have to submit it to nascar for approval. They must have so much drag so they don't have an aerodynamic advantage over another team. That's totally subjective. And they make templates specifically for THAT car and use those to make sure the car hasn't been altered.

As for the so much air thing...yes, I was referring to restrictor plates.

I just think it should be a situation where they don't regulate each care to keep them equal. But instead have a set parameters/requiremtents that EVERYBODY must meet.

The way Nascar regulates everything, it's like ROAR saying, oh, well you're a bit slower than the 3 port people, so you can run a 5 port turbo...keep it even.

Exactley, back in the day they were leinyant and careless on checking cars. Thats why people sometimes got away with running fuel through the rollbars of the car to get better mileage. Now they go through it just like Diver said. It is hard to cheat in NASCAR but people sometimes do. Maybe the spoiler was a little taller or shorter depending the race. All they do is fine the crew chief and the owner and take points from the driver and crew chief, but they are still credited with the win.

WTF???? What does winning a championship have to do with wich sponsor he has???:wtf:

Kwong, do you think it would be fair if you were running a .15 class, and they let some guy with an .18, .21, or larger race against you? This is how it was back in the day Richard Petty won 28 races in one season running a big block amongst a bunch of guys with small blocks. I think the new way is better, make the cars equal and lets see who is the better driver.

Not a damn thing but he would have no fans to support him.And the fans are everything.Any NASCAR fan should know that.I don't care if he never wins another race but that's my opinion.I don't like him and I don't think he makes a good role model. He could at least cut back on the beer he drinks after a win. That's all I'm saying. And all the kids look up to him.

lol, dunno about a .21 but i'm sure I could take an .18. You forget I have a race engine

as for the richard petty days, they really should have regulated the engine size or something. That's their fault IMO.

If they really want to make it equal, then why don't they just have everyone run the exact same cars? There's some Toyota series that does this and it's quite successful.

I just think if you allow the equipment to vary, then you must have set parameters. That way it's totally objective instead of being so subjective.

You guys and your roundy round racing.... Boring... lol

Alright, j/k, dont blow a hissy... I guess ya just gotta see one in person to appreciate it. A friend of mine does CF work on Formula 1 cars, and has been bustin my horns every year to come with him to some big race in Montreal.. He says there's parts of the track that he can get me in, where you can sit about 25ft from the road, as cars shoot by at over 200mph.. I think I might consider going this year....

Formula 1 is the highest developed racing in the world, but it is also the most boring IMO. Most times the pole sitter wins, with everyone following him around single file.

All racing is physical and demends major skill. I worked with a guy who was a former crew chief on an indy team, and went on to manage the Roush SCCA team. He told me that all cars at the professional level are constantly on the verge of sliding. You see cars twitching all the time, as the drivers work to keep them under control. Now try that at 187 mph like they were doing today, while 1 or 2 feet apart, for 3 or 4 hours. The penalty for loosing control is occasionally someones life. Waltrip might have died in that cartwheeling crash.

EDit: He went to work for Saleen, not roush.

I find formula 1 to be some of the most exciting. Like i'm sure in Nascar, they are pulling really high G's in the turn, but you can't really see it.

In F1, you can see it...it's impossible not to.

All-in-all though, I don't really find watching racing on T.V. too exciting at all. I have yet to see a whole race all the way through. I usually only watch it at the end when a few guys are battling out the last few laps for the top spots...THAT'S exciting no matter what sport you're watching.

There have been sooooooo many coincidences with drivers winning at certain times in the Winston Cup.....just like Jr winning today, exactly 6 years after his father died, at the very same track, at the very same race, when the President of the United States is there watching.....

Today looked just like the Pepsi 400 in 2001. Jr had a car that could motor away from multicar drafts. That was the first race at Daytona after his fathers death.

Alot of people and drivers spoke up then, Jimmy Spencer especially. If he hadn't ahd his pee pee slapped about the Toyota comments, I'm sure he'd have something to say. Hell, he still might.

You don't get ganged up on and passed for the lead, come off the bottom out of two and drive by the leader without help while he has 2 cars with him.

Very true. I think that Tony let out a little just so he could win. Six years to the date that his dad one his first 500. Jr powered right past him and if you looked at it busch came up on stewarts ass quick like stewart did let out. I just can't see one car passing another with a drafting partner on a restrictor plate race. Oh well stewart is still the man.

If you actually watch the races and follow them thru the season you will see that this isnt the first time JR has been able to pass at a restrictor plate race without help. He did it twice last year at Talladega. Nobody let him win in the pepsie 400 nor did they today . People just start running there mouth trying to find some other reason for him winning just because there favorite driver didnt win.:censored:

I dont think no one was crying because there favorite driver didnt win. I think I might have touched a nerve. Number one, Stewart isnt going to let someone win, especially Daytona. Number two, out of all the Jr fans out there, how many do you think are true blue diehard fans and how many just jumped on the bandwagon either because of his dad or sponser. I would say that I have missed maybe 10 races top since 1999 and half of those are the road courses. Sorry for tweakin your melon WHEELIN.:dumb:

E Jr had the best car. Period. Whomever thinks Stewart let him win is dreaming. The money and prestige is way too much to give up. Jr didn't easily motor past Stewart, he had to work for about two laps to get the pass to stick. That's driver skill. I see so much whining going on and conspiracy theories being thrown around. If you don't like a sport, don't watch it for God's sake. I do want to have to sift through your poop posts.

I've been an E Sr fan since I started watching racing as a kid. I liked his style as did many. I wasn't an E Jr fan right away. It took me about a season or so to warm up to him. He has a very smart and clean driving style that I like. I think he will become a better driver than his dad.
