Most of you know I work nights. Came in last week to find out I was on days 10 hr. shifts. 5am-3pm. Don't mind the 10hrs so much, it's getting up so early after being on second shift. Think we have enough orders to keep both going and it'll be changed again in a week or so. Just about the time I get used to these hours.

I'm on a lot at this hour. Sitting in front of the computer, drinking on a beer. Trying not to wake the 'ol lady.
She set the alarm on her cell phone to get her up at 3am. I managed to get up and get it turned off. (Took me a few minutes though.)
So, here I sit sucking down coffee, trying not to wake the boss. Man I wish I had a beer.

I'm with ya bro. I've never been one to mind a longer shift either, but it's the time of the day that I hate. I work a pretty standard 2nd shift now and I hate it. I'm gladly take your 5-3, that wouldn't hurt my homelife near as much as this 3-11pm does. Everybody's lifestyle is a bit different though and one mans trash is another man's treasure.

I'm still waiting for when this "temporary" (as my boss told me) shift is over. Personally, I think he's full of sh$! and I'm most likely on this permanently or until I move on.

Your lucky Digger, I would be more than happy to work days for a week or two just to feel normal for a while. My shift is 4:00pm - 2:00am, Tuesday - Friday and it sucks!

I have a pretty normal work day. 8-5 But I don't get paid well at all so it sucks. Then again I'm at work right now playing on the internet lol.

I work varying hours. Monday is 6 - 14, Wednesday 7 - 15, Thursday 8 - 19, Friday 6 - 14 (every third is 7 - 18 with a 7 - 17 Saturday). Oh and 7 Sundays a year is 7 - 14.

I don't mind working weekends, during my training and until two years ago I only had every third weekend off. When working in my field of work you have to be a little more flexible. But I love my work. Best colleges ever, great boss and I just got a 5% pay-raise. :D

Digger I hope you get back to the night shift again. But then again you might come to like it. :)

I hated nights when I first started. Been on it for about 15yrs now. Don't mind it that bad. Just changing back and forth that I hate. Everything got slow and we were on days for a month and a half, then back to 2 shifts. Now we're down to one again.

Economy is kinda scary right now. Hear about somebody around here cutting back about everytime you turn the news on. 2 sawmills real close to the house just closed down. One has been running for 40 years or better. No warning. Just came in on the second shift and told the guys to go home, they were shutting it down. I'm glad to be working.

Since I've already got started on the economy...
I lost $3200 on my 401K on my last quarterly statement. The big Merrill Lynch buy out. Never looked real close, but somebody told me they charged us to transfer our funds. Any of you read what the top guy made last year? $84 million. And we have to bail these guys out?
OK, end of my rant. Just pisses me off.

It's a tough situation no doubt. The worst part about all the banks and the big three(GM, Ford, Chrysler) as much as you don't want to give any financial help, it will probably do more harm if you don't. But then again, if they really are in such a bad state maybe they should go belly up. IDK I'm no economic expert, and have no idea of the ramifications of these events. I'm content being blissfully unaware. :) lalalalalalala

it seems for now that the financial sector is somewhat calm over here, for now anyway. Some of the smaller banks have been close to going belly up the last couple of months. Unfortunately it doesn't look like your debt gets erased if you credit union/bank goes belly up. :hehe:

But yeah all these big bosses are way overpriced, basically they have no shame.

we need to outlaw the workers unions to help save the big 3 cash. and outlaw those ARM mortgages. all company's must cut back ceo pay if they want to live.

too bad the ceo is the boss
