I am helping a fellow friend with his 15FE and his engine seems to run good but when it reaches top speed it just dies. I thought it was running too lean but I richened her up and still the same thing. At first he was complaing that it was dying when he applied the brakes. I readjusted his Idle and it works fine. Any ideas to what is going on?

Its probably just because it is a crappy engine lol. Do you have a temp gun? I would still try playing with the tuning and see if you can find the sweet spot.

The 15FE is a decent engine to start with if you are beginning. Give it a better carb and header/pipe and it tuns good. Maybe even a better cooling head. This thing runs strong but dies out at top end. Will check temps today on the next run. This is my Brothers ride and it still runs strong.

I was just kiddin:thumbup: its not bad for a fist engine, my friend has one and he added a heatsink, a tuned pipe, and a bigger bore carb to add performance. And yeah, check the temps so we have something to go on.

OK I checked the temps and I was barely running 201 degrees. I did notice that the fuel entering the carb after it shuts down was "boiling" I am thinking there might be an air leak in the tank. But it runs strong but after running a few minutes it dies. WTF right? Its not too hot but it stills dies? Bad plug, Air leak what?

Well if the engine is only running at 201 then that is too cold, but fuel is boiling? Something is probably wrong like an air-leak or something. You could try leaning it out to get temps of 250 and see what happens but other than that i don't know what the problem could be. Air leaks in the tanks cause it to run too lean but temps of 201 doesn't make sence. Let me know if you find out the problem. Also play around with different plugs and see what happens.

Ok I am leaning that there is a leak somewhere. I think that the gas tank has something to do with it. Any other ideas are welcome.
