So to start off i just bought a Smaxx off ebay for $90 it has a spooled rear end which i dont mind, but I just had my first casualty from it last night snapped a driveline to rear wheel. So should I replace with steel/metal cvd's?
I found some resonably priced and seems like no more problem there was just wondering if it would snap the main driveline then. So if i replaced all drivelines with steel would something else break? Cause if so I will just stick with stock ones(cause i can get em cheap) or put in my reg rear diff in. The 2.5r is wicked fast in this thing and I kinda like the spooled rear when on dirt but me and my sone drive on all kinds of terrain.

Any input appreciated.

I have a tmaxx 2.5r with a 4908 chassis I have a spooled rear with a reg diff up front same thing happened to me i switched to traxxas drivelines an the center drivelines I made myself cuz at the time time no1 offered them for the 4908 an no problems since well unil i blew the 2.5r no I havent ran the truck in almost a yr an it makes me sad lol

I know they wont twist or snap, but will the force be transferred up to the center driveshaft then the transmission if i replace the center one with a cvd too?
 
see how long a set of new plastic ones last you. The ones that came on it were probably beaten and abused.

If you get decent life out of them then i say stick with plastic. Its cheap and easy to replace.

I have steel CVD drives through out my E Maxx but I also have aluminum Tranny gears and I am not having any problems, but since you are only driving 2 wheels with the S Maxx I think the tranny on yours would probably be ok if you replaced all of your plastic with CVD's,
 
Be cautious in what you get.....meaning no INTEGY!! Alot of cheap cvd's and u-joints will break just as easily as stock. I found out the hard way. I would upgrade to a quality cvd in the center and stock plastic to the wheels. That way there's something there to absorb driveline shock loads. The power is split between 2 plastic axles rather than just the one plastic center shaft. Maxx trucks are rough on center shafts no matter what you're running.
 
does anybody use the traxxas cvds and drive lines ? Iseen the up graded 1's at the lhs.......they look good but are they good? Thanx
