cut the flange didnt notice much of a differance but I'm still tuned for winter hopfully ill get out to play tomarrow.

I decided since I had to tear my truck down to replace the broken engine mount I would go ahead and perform the exhaust mod. I drilled the stinger, honed & tapered the edges and then proceeded to knock down the flange on the header. All was going fine, I left just a small amount of flange to help grip the boot. I figured while the header was removed I would polish it on my 6"wire wheel. Everything was going fine...until I took my eyes off of the part for only a second. Without warning the header was ripped from my hands and spat out on the floor like a piece unwanted chewing gum................Back to Hobby World I go! Is Traxxas publicly held? If so I need to purchase stock!

lol, stocks!

The header is a cast piece, is it not? how much material will you have to remove to even the surface out for a nice polished sheen?

Well, I wasn't going for a mirror finish just a little bit brighter than stock. From my efforts my exhaust header now looks brand new..........because it is.....because I f#$ked my other one up!

I'd really hate to cut the flange on my header.. i just thought of maybe filling the void with some jb weld.. does anyone think that it will or wont work? i could find a sleeve that matches the inside diameter to keep the form of the material and go from there.....

Just did this to my 2.5r. Wow talk about waking this little motor up. It will pull the front up now :)

Does anyone have any illustrations on this action? i would like to see someones header after they did this work, just to make sure i understand, if you have a picture or don't mind post it please or send as a pm.

Ill try to post some pics but all i did was take a 1/4 inch bit and drill out the stinger, and cut the flange at the start of it right off. used my dremel and cut off disk attachment. the metal is really soft and the dremel made short work of it. I left a tiny bit of lip on it but not much.
