Hey all,

This will be an easy fix for you guys who know what you are doing...

I got my first savage x 4.6 (older one) the other day. It is used so has been broken in.

It was working fine when I went to check it out but the next day when I come to use it there was a huge difference. Thinking back I think I turned up the throttle in the remote without knowing what it did, causing it to run away from me at idle and then I turned the HSN without knowing what I was doing properly.

I have done a ton of reading and vid watching past few days to learn what I can.

I reset the LSN (i turned that too unfortunately) so it is flush and put the HSN to around 2.5 turns out, and also sorted the idle out so I have a 1mm gap and it stays on when breaking.

Now, the problem is I dont know what to do from here...

It starts fine and stays still on idle but as soon as I give it any throttle, even a tiny little bit.. It cuts out.

Does that mean it is running too rich and is flooding?

Is the LSN too rich being flush if it has been broken in?

Is it just the HSN i need to turn in more until it stops?

Any help will be much appreciated :)

Had a look at the flow chart and it does not make sense as going on the basis it dies on acceleration one part says lean it the other says richen it.... Which is it?

None of that stuff above really helps with my problem (thanks for posting it thugh)

If it sputters and dies, the LSN is too rich. If it quits almost instantly it's too lean. Don't make any adjustments till it's warmed up.
 
Get it running by setting all needles to factory. Then, after its warmed up, adjust setting on lsn so it idles smoothly for about 30 seconds without dying. Then do the same with the high speed needle.
 
Do you have a Mid speed needle, sometimes those change their setting just from vibrations
The mid speed needle is more of a fuel sprayer bar than a needle
