Here's a link to an interesting thread on aftermarket cooling heads. I bought a Nova Pro for my tmaxx when I had it. but this makes me wonder it they're worth the $. Especially if you have a motor that designed right to begin with. I just wanted mine to look different from the 10,000,000 other tmaxxes. A month later half of those had new heads too:thumbdown http://rbproducts.com/rbww/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000791#000005

If the hyperlink doesn't work just copy and paste it. Its worth reading.

Very interesting thread Colorado....I've often wondered about that same thing. You're getting much colder temps, but then you have to lean the engine out a bit to compensate sometimes. Is the leaning of the engine too much? Maybe if you need to lean out that much you should run a fuel with a higher content of castor, or add some additionally to the fuel you are already using.
Well well well, that's a bit of food for thought. So maybe the heads on mid-higher end engines are designed to meet the needs of the engine already and for the most part shouldn't be changed out. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

GilbeQ, my thoughts exactly. Only prob w/adding more castor is not only does it lube, but helps cool too. I don't know for sure. I think there are some motors that have little low profile heads and in certain rcs were there's not very much airflow it maybe ok. Also like the guy in the post says, the pros running odonnell heads only concern is that the motor run as fast as possible and finish the race vs. people like me who want to have a balance between life span and performance.
