today, i was running my rs4 rtr 3 when i ran into something, a piece of my stinger caved in into the pipe abit, i kept running it for a bit and WAPOW! the speeds were like crazy it was accelerating like i had a 2 speed!

Hmm...did the car get louder? Maybe theres a crack in the pipe or the pipe disconnected. When i bumped my pipe off the RTR3 (rs4) it got loud and Ran like MAD!!! It mustve hit the high forties STOCK!

rs4's can't hit 40 only 33 is max stock. My pipe wasn't cracked it was caved in a bit from the stinger to the pipe and it did not get any louder, but it did lose alot of smoke, even if i was running a bit rich.

I don’t know much about tuned pipes but I know the shape is part of the engineering behind them. Putting a dent in it has changed the dynamics and hence how it works. It is cool that it has more bottom end, but I'm guessing the new shape has sacrificed some top end and dropped over all top speed.

just a guess though

by pusing the stinger in, you changed the dynamic of the pipe. You may have changed the amount of back pressure and maybe the bend was in your favor. What type of pipe is it. If its a cheaper pipe, less R&D goes into it so it may not be as tuned as you think. All RTR kits come with tuned pipes, but if you change it to a more expensive tuned pipe, you can get as much as a 40% increase in performance. I think "Congrats you accedently tuned your pipe."

The no smoke thing worries me though.

The RTR3 has a composite pipe, I dont see how it bent? When I slammed a curb I busted my stinger completely off. I am planning on going with either the THS racing pipe or RB concepts pipe.

The no smoke thing worries me too.

Good choice in pipes NC. After getting a higher end pipe, I fond it will worth the money. I am even going to say that when you buy a pipe, dont hold back.

There are not many choices for the RS4 3. Since the exhaust is on the right side of the car, similar to a T-Maxx, but the stinger exits out the side of the car, I have only found three pipes that will work on the RS4 3 due to the location of the pressure fitting and stinger. The two I mentioned and a cvec (over priced choad) Both the RB and THS pipes cost around $50, not bad at all for a one piece header pipe combo. I have only heard good things about both of them, not to mention they both look real nice too!

Yes my rs4 rtr3 did hit about 40 after the pipe came off. I guess because of the fact that there is no turbulence for the Used air from the engine...the engine ran faster. But i totally lost control. Good thing for the front bumper!
And i Too am looking toward that RD logics Pipe and header set. Just gotta get some money tho. I love chrome things!

Yeah mjime, I actually meant RD logics. Their pipe is almost identicle to the THS pipe. They also have a fatter pipe, they call it a "turbo" but it looks like it may have more bottom end than the other version. Click the banner below and check them out, real nice pipes. Plus for orders over $50 they offer free shipping.

ohh yeah, I am very familiar with those pipes. 007kel runs them on his SS and Savage. Great quality. THS is a lot harder to find out here.

Thats funny, it's actually reversed here, THS is easy to find RD Logics is not. Most likely I will wind up with the THS, mostly due to availability, and it's a good pipe. I can buy the THS pipe in Charlotte, (semi locally), the RD I would have to mail order.

Thats not entirly true..........I had the RTR RS4 3 and it is sent with the .15 FE and the rotary carb is factory set not to open all the way for full throttle. you can adjust this so it opens all the way. I got that stock engine and plastic thing they call a pipe to do 38 with the carb adjustmnet. I know its only 5mph but it still is something. Give it a try if you already havent.

I was thinking the same thing until I re-read his post and saw at the end he stated he was using a different pipe in his sig

running with the pipe off is detrimental to the engine. I would alike it to running with the air filter off. The way the pipe works with the whole back pressure thing will suck debre and dirt back in through the exhaust port and into the sleeve.
