could a fuel tank leak cause this?

I have a t-maxx 2.5 which i have recently converted to an s-maxx. The other day i was driving and my truck ran like a bat-outta-hell on the top end but had zero power off idle. I looked at my truck and i noticed that fuel was everywhere on the chassis.:\ Upon further investigation I noticed that the leak was coming out of the back screw hole nearest to the motor on the tank.:whhooo: Would this contribute to the bad low end performance?

Yea it could. Anytime you have a leak, it screws with your performance. Ya might wanna see about getting that fixed. My stock pipe was opened up along where it seals the two halfs together. drastically changed the settings and performance of my truck. Had unburned fuel leaking on my chassis. Wasn't a good day that day.

I'm not really sure about that. That's a good question. I'm sure someone will POP in and help ya out. If your tank has a crack in it or even a leak, I'm sure you'd be better off just replacing instead of repairing.

There are methods of repairing a leaky fuel tank, how ever with the extreme temperatures of the block/head/exhaust i would HIGHLY suggest just replacing the tank. They're not not expensive and you'll save some headache.
