RC Driving Style
I recently bought a T-maxx and i have herd that if you buy a new cooling head it helps keeps your engine cooler. If this is true i was wondering what are some of the best ones to use.

I'm guessing you have the new Maxx with the 2.5. I highly recommend the ACNCM (American CNC Machining) cooling heads. I have it on mine, and have no more tuning issues with that engine. The stock head is the pits, that's why there's a CNC head on the Revo.
 
yeah rolex was right i am still with my 2.5. ROLEX thanks for your opinion i still would like more.

The VERY FIRST question I posted here, on the day I joined this site was:
"Pesk Carb on 2.5?"
I was upgrading from the .15 and heard all kinds of bad things about keeping that engine in tune.
Some time later, I bought an ACNCM cooling head through the For Sale forum here, and all the tuning issues were gone. Not a carb problem, but a stock head that was unable to keep the engine temp consistant.
I tune LOTS of engines at the local track, 90% being stubborn 2.5s.
Any time anyone has a problem with one I tell them I'll get it running for that day, but I won't do it again till they get a better head.
It's not the most powerful engine, or the highest revving, but with a good head, it's totally reliable and dependable.
 
I secound the ACNCM head I have heard great things about it that is why when I get the $ I will buy one
 
That one's the giant. I have the one that's called enormous. Believe it or not, enormous is smaller than the giant. Totally efficient though. The giant is the latest release from ACNCM, but almost overkill in my opinion.

Looks like enormous is no longer available for the 2.5.
Good price at $39. My LHS is getting 55.

They are both excellent. I don't see the 'enormous' for the 2.5 listed on their site, so it's probably not available unless you can find on in the LHS.
I think they just increased the size for the extra Bling factor.
 
Yeah, the giant one will work just fine. I also had the enormous head and it took away all tuning issues and overheating issues. Made the engine totally reliable from tank to tank and made it run so much better.

I just put on a dynamite cooling head on my .15 and was wondering if they are a very good brand and does it perform well. I think it has 11 cooling fins and its is defiently going to be getting more air flow on it its almost twice the size of the original one it peaks way above the body now.

Rolex, would the new Revo head do the job? In other words, is the 2.5R head a match for the 2.5 T-Maxx engine? And would it be then the same reliability of the Revo engine? (assuming all other factors remained the same)I have yet to break in my T-Maxx (oooops, my wife's) but when I do I will watch for overheating and then pop a new head on it.
 
I belive it is the only diff between the 2.5r and the 2.5 are a blue anodized head.Plus the 2.5r is a direct fit to the 2.5.
 
Is it absolutely necessary to upgrade the cooling head right away?

Not absolutely, because it is still winter! It is colder outside, so it is easier for the engine to cool down. When it starts warming up a bit, the new head is a must!
