Ok, this is the story. I have a revo with a 2.5r in it and its old. I'm going to get the new rusty with the 2.5 and I heard that the only difference between the 2.5 and the 2.5r is the 2.5r has the blue cooling head. The cooling head on my 2.5r is in good shape so could I take the 2.5r's cooling head and put it on the 2.5 to give it more power?

I'm not sure about the internals, but you can take the head from the 2.5 and put it on the 2.5r. It won't give you more power, but it will make your engine run cooler.

the ports are sopost to be a bit differant on the 2.5r then what they are on the 2.5.

why would traxxas call it a 2.5R just because of a blue cooling head?
think about it..

I'm just telling you what I heard.

The 2.5r does have slightly different porting on it, and does have more power. Switching the cooling head, as VB said, will not increase power.

I have personally asked a Traxxas tech on the phone and was told the porting on the sleeve was different. The blocks are identical so doing a 2.5R piston/sleeve kit and an aftermarket coolinghead would give you a 2.5R motor (essientially).
