Am i going to have to replace my cooling head if so which are good ones
i have allready destroyed the top fin now the secondd fin is a bout to break off

The loss of a fin or two is not entirely detrimental to the performance of the cooling heads duties. I get the impression that you have only lost parts of the fins, not the entire layer. If that is the case, then you are okay. It may look like crap, but it will still do the job. If you are truly worried, you can replace it, but you might be spending your money just for looks.

ok thanks ill stick with my old one i didnt know if it was ok

I have also busted a 3rd of my top fin. It looks crappy but the engine still runs fine. I might just cut it neatly with a saw and start a trend LOL!:breakdown

Keep it until you no longer have fins. I find it really amazing after all the bottom side up time I have, most of them a pretty spectacular wipeout, I have thus far only bent my fins. knock on wood

I just ordered the HPI cooling head. Anyone know if this will make my engine run coooler? I dont have a temp problem at the moment, this is just a safety feature just in case.

I don't know what the HPI cooling head looks like in comparison to your existing one. I do know that more fin surface area means more efficient heat transfer for a cooler engine. I trashed my T-Maxx heat sink cross-threading a glow plug. After almost a month of downtime waiting for a factory replacement I wised up and bought one from New Era. It's taller, larger in diameter, more fins. It HAS to do a better job of cooling.

HPI claims the machined head does a better job of cooling than the cast porous stocker. First thing that I am going to do when i get the head is remove the purple anodizing.

guys looking for new heads ... check out nova rossi . they make real good heads that look great for 50 bucks. i have one on my 25 and it works great. i can't remember the website, but if i do ill post it up here sometime today.

The problem with the cooling head on the savage is that it isn't a machined head, so a lot of people are breaking off fins. If you are intereseted in an aftermarket head, you might want to check out www.crazynutracing.com

I got this head LINK but for the Picco .26 and it dropped my temps about 30 degrees. If your gonna replace the head you should go with the Nova (imo). It looks great and does the job.
