Hey Guys,

It's me again guys, Newbie to the bone.... I have a question (I know what a surprise huh!) Do you recomend that I change the cooling head on my Maxx 2.5, and if so do you have a recomendation on a good one that won't break my wallet? Thanks again guys for all of your help.

Tom

Try a Golden Horizon or Hardcore Racing Mutant head. It is a must as the stock head is not enough to cool it down.

Yeah, as Jon said and as Rolex and quite a few different people have pushed, the stock trx 2.5 head just doesn't cut it! I would personally reccomend an ACNCM head. They are fairly cheap.

Here is a link to the ACNCM head. It is fairly cheap, but it works super good!!!!!! I'm sure Rolex will say the same.

If you are really tight on cash though, you can go to the revo blue anodized head for the trx 2.5r. It is better than stock.

Well if you have cold weather conditions right now in yoru area, upgrading your cooling head isn't a must just yet IMO. However once the weather starts warming up, I do recommend upgrading the cooling head. I just installed a golden horizons cooling head and am very happy with it myself. Got it on ebay for $27/shipped brand new. However there are others outthere that are good as well but I would look on ebay first before checking the online stores. Most of the time you can save money by going ebay.

Yep, change that head. Just make sure you get a recognizable maker and that it is machined, not cast. I changed mine to the 2.5r Powertune head as used also on the Revo. I did this because I did not want to have to change my body work. Works wonderful. That said, there are cheaper heads out there other than the Revo 2.5r head, such as the deal above on E-Bay.

I got the ANCN Giant Head and was really impressed by their customer service and the ease of installation. Just remember to raise your body mounts if you go with a much bigger head. I rolled my maxx and munged up my pretty new head and actually broke my engine mount. I just learned today that the body can be the best protection against this.

I'm going to end up owing rolex a rolex. :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :2cents:

To help you out, Add a few zipties on your cooling head to help protect it. A rollbar is also nice. New Era has the best one IMO.

i was looking at the new era, but I didn't see roll bars. Does anyone have a link? I will need one that fits the Giant ANCM Head.

BTW the zip ties are a great idea. I swear I sat there staring at my car for an hour trying to think of some way to protect it. Granted the ties would have saved me from the scratches, but probably not the broker mount, but I'll do it until I have a cage or rollbar.

I dont think the ACNCM head will fit in the RC Solutions roll cage. The roll bar is plenty tall, i think.

Herbieace,

RPM makes a great Head protector that is really chaep and made of really top grade nylon. It uses screws to expand the nylon into the top of the head and this one won't pop off in a rollover. I have rolled it since I put it on and, let me tell you it was worth the 8 buck I think I spent on it. See ya on the track

Tom

I wouldnt stay with the stock head just to put an RPM protector on it. The trx 2.5 needs a better cooling head, so its best to upgrade it when you can. In this colder weather, it is not as important, but when the days warm up, you NEED a better head.
