hay guys iam wanting to get cooling fan for my traxxas. I have looked @ all kinds on the net and can't find true specks on any.iam looking @ the integy (C23835) w/built in temp sensor.does anyone know @ what temp the fan comes on.
 
Gimmick. Save your money. If you're overheating, you either A) have your engine too enclosed, B) are too lean on the tune or C) need to rebuild.
 
I would knock a few teeth down on the pinion. That will help with heat, if you're running on a high traction surface like grass you will build up heat quickly as well. If anything get yourself a temp gun and check your temps often. On my slash I ran traxxas' esc fan that was on all the time. Never had a problem with motor heat except for practice sessions at the track, I had a 15t pinion on it.

Good advice bud. Gearing will have a lot to do with how hard the motor has to work thus generating more heat
 
thanks guys . it is a nitro & his is a new truck. I have a temp gun & it is well vented. it was been 12 years since I have mess with nitro I have his tuned like mine & I have no problem with mine & his doesn't get hot when I drive it. the problem I think is my son is learning to drive & goes too slow. I tell him to drive it like he stole it. but he just doesn't get it. he just needs more practice. I was thinking of putting a t-maxx battery box on the roll cage to power a fan. to keep it from running servo batteries down.it doesn't weight that much & no biggie to take off when he starts to go faster. I was looking @ integy (C23835) cooling fan with temp sensor. just to help save some battery life & because kids forget to turn things off/on & don't want engine to be learning tool. need to know @ what temp the fan is engaged. I can't find real speck's or any other fan with probe. I may have to use a regular fan but a probe would be nice. thanks again.
 
Oh, I thought that was for an electric. What's he planning on putting it on...the motor? It'll melt.
 
Rhe traxxas. 3.3 like to run around 250° AND SHOULD drop temp off throttle.
If it does not then you need to check your tune. All engines even the same ones are different
 
I built a roll cage w/engine cage. I am going to weld washers to the cage under the cab for the battery box to screw too. and the some for the fan on the engine cage. it looks like it will have a 1/2'' between fan & engine.

thanks jose. Iam pretty sure its tuned good. iam thinking that he is too slow. it is air cooled & not enough air would get it hot. it doesn't get hot when I drive it bashing to mid speed (normal stuff).

Enrich your LSN.

The only application I can see a cooling fan being necessary on a nitro is in a rock crawler, and that has to do with high revving and heavy load at low speed. In any normal application, the load and RPMs of the engine should match the airflow over the fins sufficiently to cool the motor.

Sounds like you are pretty set on doing this, though, so more power to ya. I personally don't like to complicate my kits with unnecessary gizmos and additional circuits that add weight, but that's me.
