The binding issues aren't near as prevalent as they used to be. For the most part, Spektrum and Futaba have taken care of those issues with recalls and whatnot. If someone does have a problem anymore, it's usually due to user error (such as not setting up the antenna correctly) or they've gotten ahold of a pre-recall receiver or transmitter. I've ran my DX3R on a SR3100 and SR3001 receiver in my crawler, sct, and even my boats and have never had an issue.
You'll have far more issues with a AM or FM system than you'll ever have with 2.4ghz. The worst issue you might have with the 2.4ghz systems is dropping a bind, but like I said, that's pretty much a thing of the past. If you do happen to drop a bind, when you have the failsafe settings set up correctly the vehicle will just stop as opposed to the old am or fm systems going apesh!t when they encounter the least interference.
